Google Doodle honors Wilbur Scoville, creator of the Scoville Scale

People often burn their tongues when they eat any spicy food or pepper. People have always burnt their tongues when they eat spicy foods that might contain pepper. However, before Wilbur Scoville no body really knew how to measure the "heat" of pepper or spicy foods till then. Google has commemorated about the commendable work of Wilbur Scoville on his 151st birth anniversary.

Google Doodle honors Wilbur Scoville, creator of the Scoville Scale

Born in Bridgeport Connecticut on January 22nd, 1865, Wilbur Lincoln Scoville was a chemist, award-winning researcher, professor of pharmacology and the second vice-chairman of the American Pharmaceutical Association.Scoville's earliest books makes mention of milk as an antidote to pepper heat. Wilbur Scoville is remembered for the orgaoleptic test which can measure purgwency test. the Scoville scale can be used to measure the heat and pungency of spicy foods including pepper.

The Google Doodle was created by Olivia Huynh who has been working on the Doodle since last year.
