Google Go: Not your conventional internet browser
Search giant Google released its Go app during the Google for India 2017 event. The app is a toned down version of the original Google app that claims to make sharing, searching and browsing on the web "fast and easy." It consumes only 5MB of your phone's space and will come preloaded on devices with Android Go platform, a lighter version of Android for entry-level smartphones.
Google's main focus is to bring internet browsing within everyone's reach and with Google Go, it is targeting users who are new to the internet. But what makes it different from other browsers? Let's find out:
Knows your interests
Google Go allows users to easily access their favourite third-party apps and websites from within the app. It also suggests information, images, and videos about things you care about. You can save ample amount of time by using the voice command for search or tap your way through the trending topics and queries. The app also allows access to other Google services such as Youtube, Translate, Weather, Maps directly from the home screen.
Saves your data
Google has also thrown in a feature dubbed as Data Usage, which when turned on lets you load lighter versions of webpages using company's Weblight project. As per Google, the app is designed in a way that it consumes up to 40 percent fewer data. It has the ability to provide information quickly even on slow network connections, which will also help users living in remote areas that have low internet frequency.
Type less, discover more
The app features a 'tap-first' user interface that doesn't require much typing and welcomes you with options to search using voice commands. The search bar on the top shows the trending topics which can take you directly to their search results. You can also find the perfect pictures or GIFs to share with your friends within the app.

Multilingual companion
The Go app also lets you choose an additional language apart from English, making it more localized and helpful. Not just that, the app also brings international languages to the table such as Deutsch, Filipino, and Afrikaans, which can be switched anytime using the language button at the bottom of the search result.
Overall, the Google Go app is something you would call a 'Jack of all trades.' It brings you information, saves your data, supports local languages, and most importantly knows what your interests are.
