Google I/O 2025 Teased with ‘’Prism Shift’ Puzzle Game: Can You Solve it to Unveil the Launch Date?

The journey to Google I/O 2025 has begun with a puzzle designed to unveil the date of the developer conference. Participants must "Guide, reflect, and split beams of light to illuminate beacons" in order to discover the event's date. This engaging game features soothing ambient music and a familiar format.

Players manipulate circular mirrors, representing the 'O' in I/O, to light up cube-shaped nodes. Once activated, these nodes remain lit. By tapping the mirror, players can rotate it to illuminate other nodes. The objective is to light all nodes within a sector. There are approximately seven worlds in total, accompanied by a Gemini "riddle."

Interactive Game Mechanics

Mirrors are used to reflect laser beams and can be moved or rotated. To move a piece, hold and drag it; tap or click to rotate. Grounded pieces cannot be moved or rotated. When pieces are entangled, rotating one will cause all connected pieces to rotate simultaneously.

Nodes require laser beams for activation, and all must be powered at once for progression. Beam duplicators can redirect multiple beams simultaneously. Prisms split light into red, green, and blue components. Lanterns brighten dark areas on the board.

Colour Combinations and Filters

Colour filters modify laser beam colours. Green and blue create cyan; red and blue form magenta; red and green produce yellow; combining red, green, and blue results in white light.

Refreshing the page resets game progress. In past years, a specific number of participants needed to solve the puzzle before revealing the Google I/O date later that day.
