Users across the United States, including Ohio and Florida, and the UK, from London to Manchester, were affected. Other regions like India, Canada, and Europe also reported problems. Google Discover is showing cached older content, adding to the disruption.

Many users took to X to confirm the service interruption, often mixing in humor. "Google News being broken feels extremely ominous," remarked one user. Other comments expressed similar sentiments.

A Challenging Week

This outage compounds a challenging week for Google. Recently, over 2,500 pages of API documentation were leaked, revealing details about Google's Search algorithm. Liz Reid, Google's head of search, acknowledged that their new AI Overview feature gave questionable answers, which went viral.

In a blog post, Reid stated, "We hold ourselves to a high standard, as do our users, so we expect and appreciate the feedback, and take it seriously." Tom's Guide has reached out to Google for a comment and will provide updates if they respond.
