Instagram Stories that was an idea to replicate Snapchat Stories has now coming to the web version of the platform. The Facebook-owned sharing website will let users post Stories from the desktop and mobile websites as well.
Until now, Instagram allowed users to upload stories only via the mobile apps. Now, you can visit the website www.instagram.com either on your mobile or desktop and login to your account to create stories. The Stories feature will be displayed at the top of your feed and you just have to tap on the same to watch them. You can also see the other Stories by tapping on the right and left arrows in order to skip or go to the previous story.
For now, you can only see the Instagram Stories created by the other users. The platform will roll out the ability to upload Stories from the mobile website in the coming months. The Instagram Stories is now available for mobile web users and the global roll out of the same will happen in phases.
The Instagram Stories feature was rolled out to the users of the app in the last year. It became an instant hit as soon as it was launched. Within a year, the feature has crossed 250 million daily active users and has become a stiff challenger to Snapchat. Instagram announced that users below 25 years of age spend more than 32 minutes per day while users over 25 years of age spend more than 24 minutes per day respectively on the platform on an average.
Earlier this month, Instagram Stories turned one year old. In an attempt to celebrate the first birthday of Instagram Stories, the Facebook-owned company launched a celebration sticker pack for the users of Stories.
