JioCinema Signs Deal With NBC Universal To Stream ‘The Office’

JioCinema will now stream NBC Universal content along with the HBO bouquet it acquired from Disney+ Hotstar. The streaming app which was streaming IPL 2023 for free this year has signed a partnership with NBC Universal to beef up its Hollywood content for Indian viewers.

The development comes after JioCinema signed a streaming deal with WarnerBros Discovery Inc in April to bring shows from HBO studios, including Game of Thrones, The Wire, Succession, and more.

The streaming app launched during the FIFA World Cup last year had also won the rights to stream IPL 2023 matches, which concluded Monday with Chennai Super Kings emerging as the winner. The platform streamed IPL matches in 4K resolution free of cost for all Indian viewers, garnering a record 3.2 crore concurrent viewership during the final match.

JioCinema to Stream The Office

Reliance Jio announced a multi-year deal with the US studio on Monday which will give access to JioCinema Premium subscribers access to popular NBC titles such as "Suits", "The Office", "Downton Abbey", "The Mindy Project", "Parks and Recreation", and more. The companies announced the deal in a joint statement.

The streaming giant will be releasing the titles starting next month, in a dedicated Peacock Hub.

The deal will also include Hollywood blockbusters such as the Jurassic series, Bourne, Shrek, The Mummy, and more.

The platform also announced it will be playing host to this year's Fast X, along with the much anticipated Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer which will debut first on the JioCinema app.

JioCinema Premium Plans

The JioCinema app allows for free sports streaming. The app was home for IPL matches on the internet this season, and had also hosted the FIFA World Cup last year. While both the tournaments were streamed for free, along with a select library of content, JioCinema announced a premium subscription tier for Indian viewers.

Users can now pay Rs 999 a year to access titles from HBO, Paramount, NBC, and others.
