Nokia and Tata Play Fiber Join Forces to Launch India's First WiFi 6-Ready Broadband Network

Nokia and Tata Play Fiber have embarked on a collaboration to deploy India's maiden WiFi 6-ready network. The surge in online activities, particularly during the COVID-19-induced lockdowns, has amplified the need for robust broadband networks capable of delivering stable and high-speed connectivity to households and businesses alike. A Solution to Meet Surging Internet Demands

Nokia, the Finnish telecom equipment giant, has inked a significant deal with Tata Play Fiber, providing the latter with the essential infrastructure for network deployment. This encompasses a comprehensive suite of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and WiFi equipment, featuring the Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Optical Network Terminal (ONT) equipped with WiFi 6 capabilities, and WiFi mesh beacons.

This collaboration is set to enhance the user experience significantly, allowing Tata Play Fiber to offer differentiated services and a seamless indoor network experience. Anand N Sahai, CEO of Tata Play Fiber, affirmed the importance of this partnership, stating, "Our partnership with Nokia allows us to bring a WiFi 6-ready network to our customers - which is a first in the category. The deployment of this next-generation, best-in-class optical networking solution will boost up speed and coverage for multiple smart gadgets in all tech-dependent homes and enterprises."

Nokia's intelligent mesh WiFi 6 solution is engineered to provide users with high-speed internet coverage throughout their homes. It's designed to furnish top-tier internet speeds to multiple devices on a single network, ensuring an enhanced user experience during low-latency tasks such as online gaming.

While it can theoretically deliver up to 9.6Gbps of connectivity, a 40% increase from WiFi 5, its improvements go beyond faster internet.
