Twitter Taking Cues From Reddit; Testing New Conversation Design
Twitter is working on a new layout which will display the tree conversation on its social media platform, which is going to looking similar to a Reddit thread. This feature will allow users to reply on a tweet like Reddit.
Although they are different replies, but they will be threaded with the comment on which users are replying. The new feature was first spotted on Twttr which is a prototype app of Twitter.com. Here are the details:
According to the report, the app is showing all the replies like a message body to the original tweet. The new app is developed to focus on testing new layouts for conversations. The company has introduced the app at CES 2019, the prototype app has shown a more convenient arrangement of chat shape which will be easier for users to follow. Meanwhile, other options like engagements, sharing, like, and re-tweet details are hidden to simplify longer threads.
This new design which was first appeared on Twttr the prototype app and now it is spotted on Twitted.com. The experiment was first spotted by a user named Jane Manchun Wong. After noticing the new change Wong recorded the entire new tree-style conversation and posted it on her Twitter handle.

It was also reported that the different types of replies are coded with colors which will make them different from the original post. This will help users to have clarity about the post and replies, this will also offer better visuals to users.
The social media website has confirmed that they will bring the layout to all users in 2020 and this is not the final version of the new update. It is still in the development phase and it will roll out the update will few more here and there tweaks.
At the time of announcing the prototype app, the company mentioned that they are not welcoming everyone to be part of the prototype-app testing program. Only limited English and Japanese speakers will be invited, the tester is supposed to follow all the Twitter rules. Testers are also asked to discuss what they are noticing on the app about the new layout and design which will bring more feedbacks to the company.
