UIDAI Extends Free Aadhaar Updates Deadline to June 14, 2025: How to Update Your Details Online?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates until June 14, 2025. This extension allows Indian residents to update their demographic details online through the myAadhaar platform. Initially, the deadline was set for December 14, 2024, but it has been extended to accommodate those who haven't updated their details in over a decade.

Updating Aadhaar information is crucial for maintaining accurate identification records. The UIDAI stresses the importance of keeping Aadhaar details current, as this 12-digit unique identification number is vital for accessing various services and benefits. These include enrolling in government welfare schemes, filing income tax returns, and booking travel tickets.

Free Aadhaar Update: UIDAI Extends Deadline Until June 2025

Aadhaar Free Online Update Process

To utilise the free online updating service, residents should visit the myAadhaar portal. After logging in with their Aadhaar number and OTP sent to their registered mobile number, they can verify and correct any necessary details such as name and address. Required documents must be uploaded in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format with a maximum file size of 2 MB.

Once the update request is submitted, users receive a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) for tracking purposes. Upon approval, the updated Aadhaar card can be downloaded directly from the portal. This process ensures that all demographic information remains accurate and up to date.

Biometric Updates at Authorised Centres

While demographic updates can be done online for free, biometric changes require visiting authorised Aadhaar centres. A nominal fee is charged for updating biometrics like fingerprints, iris scans, or photographs. Biometric updates are mandatory if there have been significant changes due to age, surgery, accidents, or other conditions.

This requirement also applies to minors turning 15 years old to ensure data accuracy. Keeping biometric data current helps prevent misuse and identity-related errors by ensuring that all linked information is precise.

Importance of Timely Updates

The UIDAI encourages all Aadhaar holders to take advantage of this extended deadline to update their details promptly. Regular updates reduce the risk of fraud and identity-related issues by ensuring that all information linked to an individual's Aadhaar remains accurate.

With the free update window open until June 14, 2025, residents are urged to review their information and make necessary changes online. This initiative aims to help individuals maintain up-to-date identification proof while reducing potential risks associated with outdated information.
