YouTube Premium Rolls Out New Features: Details and Specifications

YouTube Premium subscribers are set to get a whole new set of features on the app, which include adding videos to a queue, better quality videos and smart downloads among others. YouTube in a blog post announced the changes and highlighted its aim for bringing a "uninterrupted music listening experience" for listeners.

New Youtube Premium Features: Details and Highlights

For an enhanced immersive listening experience, YouTube rolled out five new features for its 80 million Premium members and trialers.

Queuing videos is one of the major highlights. Queuing aims to put the control back in your hands, where you can pick what the flow of your listening experience will be. The company has with this update extended queuing to phones and tablets, enabling you to choose and customize how you use YouTube. This temporary queue of videos is similar to ho the feature works on the web.

You can also now watch YouTube together with friends and family, with the Meet Live Sharing feature. The blogpost highlighted that through Meet Live Sharing on Android devices, Premium members will be able to host Google Meet sessions. In these, all attendees, regardless of whether they are Premium or free users, can watch YouTube videos together, as only the host needs to be a Premium user. They also highlighted their plan of eventually introducing this for FaceTime users on iOS via SharePlay.

YouTube has also introduced a feature with which users can continue listening or watching, across devices, regardless of where they previously left. It aims at letting users jump back in, without anything getting in the way, even if they switch from one device to another. This feature is now going to be available on Android, iOS, and the Web.

Smart Downloads and Enhanced Video Quality for YouTube Premium Users

Smart downloads uses wifi to download your favourite tracks and recommended ones, and stores them in the library for you to listen to or watch, even when you're offline.

Youtube also announced an enhanced bitrate version of 1080p HD video quality starting on iOS. This feature will help videos look extra crisp and clear, they said, even though all users will have access to 1080p quality.
