Apple's "Scary Fast" event revealed a slew of exciting new products, including the M3 SoCs, which were undoubtedly the stars of the show. In addition to the new chips, the tech behemoth also unveiled the next generation of the 24-inch iMac and MacBook Pro series.

The spotlight during Apple's event undoubtedly shone on the M3 chip series. This innovative lineup comprises the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips, designed using the efficient 3-nanometer process. Apple proudly claims these as the "first personal computer chips" crafted with this technology.

The M3 chips come armed with a swifter and more efficient CPU and an upgraded GPU that supports ray tracing, mesh shading, and Dynamic Caching, optimizing memory usage during various tasks. The most robust M3 Max chip boasts up to 128GB of unified memory, a remarkable 92 billion transistors, a 40-core GPU, and a powerful 16-core CPU.

24-inch iMac with M3 Chip

The 24-inch iMac has received a performance boost with the integration of the M3 chip. Apple claims that this upgrade delivers double the performance of its M1-equipped predecessor. Alongside the new chip, the revamped iMac flaunts a 4.5K Retina display with over a billion colors, Wi-Fi 6E support, and an improved 1080p webcam.

This rejuvenated iMac offers up to 24GB of unified memory and is available in seven vibrant colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Matching accessories are also available, although they still employ Lightning connectors. The 24-inch iMac is available for pre-order today, with the official release scheduled for November 7th.

M3-Powered 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros

The M3 chip is not exclusive to the iMac; it has found its way into the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. These laptops feature Mini LED displays, a high-quality 1080p camera, a six-speaker sound system, an impressive 22 hours of battery life, and memory configurations of up to 128GB. Customers can choose between a sleek space black finish with a fingerprint-resistant coating or the classic silver option.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch M3 Pro model begins at $2,499. Both models are available for pre-order today and will be officially released on November 7th.

Budget-Friendly MacBook Pro with M3 Chip

In addition to the M3 Pro and M3 Max-equipped MacBook Pro models, Apple has introduced an affordable 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the base M3 chip. This model replaces the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 chip from last year, promising performance gains of up to 60 percent.

Notably, the Touch Bar has been phased out in this entry-level model, returning to traditional physical keys. However, there are some trade-offs: it features a modest 8GB of RAM and is available in silver and space gray, with the black color exclusively reserved for higher-end MacBook Pros. Pre-orders for this device are now open, and it is set to officially launch on November 7th.
