15-Inch Apple MacBook Air Set to Launch in April: Report

Apple is reportedly working on a 15.5-inch MacBook Air equipped with an M2 Pro chipset. Display industry analyst Ross Young claims the device will launch as early as April this year, so we can expect the new Apple device to debut at this year's spring event.

Analyst Young shared via a tweet exclusive to subscribers that the new MacBook Air would launch in early April. He added that the display production was already in progress, and with pre-orders coming in earlier than expected, he expects an announcement soon.

Young says that a new 15-inch screen size would be the largest display yet for the MacBook Air. The analyst states that the new MacBook Air will be available alongside the current 13-inch version. The existing 13-inch MacBook Air is powered by the M2 processor, and was launched last year in July 2022.

Although Young didn't share any more details about the upcoming MacBook Air, rumors claim that the device will be available in multiple SKUs. The top-end model is expected to be powered by the Apple Silicon M2 Pro. The 15-inch MacBook Air might not get the M3 processor, as it might not be ready by April.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is positioned between the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. With the addition of the upcoming mode, the MacBook will be available in four sizes, a 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air alongside a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Meanwhile, Apple is already working on the next-gen M3 chipset, with TSMC commencing mass production using a 3nm process in December. It's still unclear whether the M3 chipset will be ready by April, so it's uncertain whether the 15-inch MacBook Air will feature the next-generation processor. Rumors suggest that an M3-powered MacBook Air might arrive later this year.
