Apple to Announce Trade-In Program for New Macs at WWDC: Report
Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023 is just around the corner, and a new report suggests that the brand will announce an updated trade-in program to include new Mac models.
Apple Trade-In Program Will Include New Macs
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will accept trade-ins of three new Macs from June 5, as WWDC commences. Gurman took to Twitter to state that the Mac Studio, the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, and 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro will be accepted for trade-in.
Apple's trade-in program allows customers to avail of discounts on new Apple products by exchanging their older devices. The trade-in option is applicable on various products such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and even Android smartphones.
"Apple will start accepting trade-ins of the Mac Studio, 13-inch M2 MacBook Air and 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro on June 5th, the same day as WWDC. Read into that as you will. I'm expecting new Macs at WWDC," Gurman stated in a tweet.
Apple's purported expansion of the trade-in program cements previous rumors of new Macs launching at WWDC. Gurman earlier reported that Apple may announce the new 15-inch MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Air, an updated 24-inch iMac, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro at the event.
All four Macs will likely be available for purchase by the end of 2023 or early 2024. In addition, Apple is reportedly working on two new models of the Mac Studio, however, it's unclear whether they will debut at WWDC 2023.
Apple Trade-In Prices Updated
Apple has been offering its trade-in services for nearly a decade, regularly updating the trade-in value of its products. With trade-ins, customers can exchange their older devices for credit towards future Apple purchases. The iPhone maker just recently changed the trade-in prices earlier this month.
According to the updated price list, the iPhone 13 Pro Max costs $630, up from an earlier listing of $600. Additionally, the iPhone 13 Pro has a trade-in value of $530.
Some phones saw a depreciation in value as well. For instance, the trade-in values of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 mini fell by $30 and $20 respectively.
