Report: Apple Set to Unveil New M3-Powered Macs in October This Year
According to renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple's much-anticipated M3-equipped Macs are expected to make their debut as early as October. Gurman suggests that Apple has plans for another launch event, following the annual iPhone event in September, which will focus on unveiling a new lineup of Macs.
The M3 Lineup
Gurman's insider information indicates that Apple's upcoming product range will include the new iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro, all powered by the M3 processor.

iMac: Advancements in the Making
Gurman's earlier reports indicated that Apple has been diligently working on two new iMac models featuring the next-generation M3 silicon. While the M3 chipset may not have a significantly higher number of CPU and GPU cores compared to the current M2 SoCs, it is expected to deliver notable enhancements in performance and power efficiency, thanks to TSMC's state-of-the-art 3nm process.
The release of the new iMac was initially speculated to occur in the second half of 2023, showcasing the colorful design that was introduced in 2021. Notably, the iMac will be the first Mac to receive the M3 treatment, bypassing the anticipated M2 refresh.
MacBook Air, Pro: A Glimpse into the Future
While the next MacBook Air is projected to be released at least a year later, it is highly likely that the MacBook Pro with M3 chips will hit the market earlier in 2024, followed by the MacBook Air later in the year. In terms of design, no major changes are anticipated for these Mac models, as the focus will primarily be on the chip upgrade to enhance performance and efficiency.
Exclusions from the Lineup
Gurman's reports also suggest that the upcoming launch may not feature the iPad. Instead, the iPad Pro is expected to receive the M3 treatment and OLED screens in a refresh planned for 2024. For the year 2023, we can anticipate an iMac refresh alongside the regular iPhone and Apple Watch updates.
Whether Apple will opt for a dedicated launch event to unveil the new M3 chip and devices or make an announcement through a press release remains unconfirmed. Regardless, as the weeks progress, more information is likely to become available.
