Apple’s India-centric features for iPhones and iPads to create over 4,000 jobs
Apple is all set to create over 4,000 jobs in India as it is expanding and developing new features for the users in the country.
Apple Inc is developing features specific for the Indian users such as maps and others. While announcing the same, an Apple official has stated that the development of these features and products will create over 4,000 jobs in the country. Back in 2017, Apple announced the App Accelerator in Bengaluru as a first-of-its-kind service and has trained thousands of iOS developers in the country to create apps that power the Apple suite of mobile devices.
The trained iOS developers in India have created around 100,000 apps for the App Store that is a 57% increase from that of the last year. Now, there are 740,000 app economy jobs related to iOS in the country. And, Apple believes that this number will increase substantially.
An official with knowledge about Apple's footprint in the country has stated that they began the initial production of the iPhone SE in May 2017 and are quite delighted with the progress of their teams. The official added that in the next six months, they are in plans to run their business in the country on 100% renewable energy, claims a PTI report.
The company official has also stated that they are expanding and developing features for the Indian customers. Some of these India-centric features include Hindi dictation, support for local traffic in maps, updated cricket scores, and stats by asking Siri and new language keyboards on iOS 11. The team at Hyderabad is expanding and is focused on developing maps for the Apple products such as iPhones and iPads among others. Eventually, the company is all set to create over 4,000 jobs in India, stated the official.
