Qualcomm Hosts XR Day in India, Showcasing Vision for AI-Powered Smart Glasses and Spatial Computing
Qualcomm Technologies held its first-ever Snapdragon XR Day in New Delhi, where it showcased how its chips are being used to power AR, VR, and mixed reality (MR) devices around the world. The event focused on how these technologies—together called spatial computing—could be used more widely in India across areas like learning, fitness, and content creation.
The event brought together developers, creators, and industry leaders, reflecting Qualcomm’s growing interest in taking its extended reality (XR) platform beyond smartphones and into everyday devices like smart glasses.

Smart Glasses That Run AI On-Device
During a demo, Qualcomm executive Alex Katouzian showed how a small AI model could run entirely on a pair of smart glasses—without needing to connect to the cloud. The glasses could respond to what you see and hear in real time, opening up new ways to interact with digital content using just voice or visuals.
The company’s Snapdragon XR platforms already support over 100 devices globally, and the idea is to make smart glasses more practical and useful for daily tasks, not just gaming or entertainment.
Partnerships in India: Lenskart and Others
Qualcomm is working with Indian companies like Lenskart to develop smart glasses using Snapdragon chips. These glasses are designed to be light and comfortable, while still offering features like on-device AI, hands-free controls, and app integration.
Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India, said that the company sees smart glasses becoming as common as smartphones in the future. He added that this tech could help improve access to education, support frontline workers, and bring digital tools to more people across the country.
What’s Next?
Qualcomm’s XR Day is part of a larger plan to bring spatial computing into more industries in India. While it’s early days for this kind of tech, the event made it clear that Qualcomm wants to play a big role in how India uses XR in both work and daily life.
