Sachin Tendulkar invests in Indian IoT firm Smartron

After Messi tying up with Huawei as its Global Ambassador, yet another sports legend has joined hands with a technology company. The man in question is none other than the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar.

Unlike Lionel Messi, the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has invested personally in an IoT (Internet of Things) firm Smartron. Besides being a strategic shareholder Sachin will be the Brand Ambassador of the company led by a Founder & Chairman Mahesh Lingareddy. Incidentally, the man behind Smartron is also the Co-Founder & CEO of SoftMachines Inc., a US-based semiconductor maker with operations in US, India and Russia.

Talking on his associating with Smartron Sachin said," I have always been fascinated by technology. Smartron has been deeply pursuing research in the emerging IoT field with their R&D units set up in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Operating since August 2014, the company has bene deeply focusing on groundbreaking innovations in the areas of smart sensor, robotics, artificial intelligence, cloud and big data technologies. Interestingly Smartron is set to launch a slew of IoT devices in the consumer and enterprise markets in the first quarter of 2016-2017 and the recent move of taking Sachin on board appears to be a strategically played move.
