Samsung’s 2025 QLED TVs Bring Knox Security and Cadmium-Free Displays to India

Samsung has launched a new line of QLED TVs in India, putting emphasis not just on picture quality but also on long-term environmental and data security considerations.

Quantum Dot Display Still at the Core

At the center of Samsung’s QLED offering is its Real Quantum Dot technology, which uses a dedicated quantum dot sheet containing over 3,000 ppm of quantum material. The goal is to maintain consistent color performance across brightness levels. TÜV Rheinland has certified the panel tech under the “Real QD Display” label, recognizing its output across color volume metrics.

These displays also use AI-based enhancements to adjust visuals in real-time depending on the content being viewed—something that’s become fairly standard in the premium TV segment.

Cadmium-Free by Design

One of the more substantial updates is that the entire 2025 QLED lineup is now cadmium-free. While cadmium has historically been used in display manufacturing, it's also classified as hazardous, prompting stricter RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliance in many countries.

Samsung says it’s been working for over a decade to remove cadmium from its supply chain. This update marks a full transition, aligning with broader trends in electronics manufacturing toward more sustainable material use.

Knox Security Moves From Phones to TVs

The new models are also equipped with Samsung’s Knox security platform, previously seen in the company’s mobile and enterprise devices. The system works at both software and hardware levels, offering features like runtime protection, secured boot, and real-time monitoring for tampering or unauthorized access.

This isn’t just a nice-to-have feature. As smart TVs continue to gain features like voice input, app downloads, and web browsing, the attack surface for potential breaches has widened. Knox could help address growing concerns around data privacy and home network safety.

Availability

The updated QLED models are already available for purchase through Samsung’s online store, major offline retailers, and other e-commerce platforms across India.
