Alcatel aims to play a bigger role with upcoming Android -based handsets in the global market. Counted among the top 10 smartphone vendors globally, Alcatel will showcase its new line up in Berlin next week.
Last week, GizBot informed you that Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini would be part of formal launch line-up. Now, the tech vendor announced another smartphone called Idol S. There is another phablet device, which will likely to be announced in Berlin.
With Idol Mini and Idol S, Alcatel is clearly targeting mid-segment market. Let's have a look at the internal specifications of respective handsets.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol S is a typical mid-segment Android powered smartphone. The phone has a 4.7-inch IPS display having resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card). There's an 8-mega pixel camera with Auto Focus and an LED Flash light.
The camera is capable of recording video in 1080p Full HD format. Also add a 1.3-mega pixel front facing camera. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. Other connectivity options include: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, and FM Radio with RDS, among others. The device won't support dual SIM capability. The uniqueness of Idol S is its thickness - measures just 7.4mm and weighs 110 grams. Price and retails availability will be announced at IFA Berlin tech show.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Mini has been announced in wake of competition coming from Samsung and HTC. Samsung has recently announced Galaxy S4 Mini, whereas HTC has HTC One Mini in the market. The Idol Mini carries a 4.3-inch FWVGA IPS display having resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and oleophobic coating.
The Alcatel Idol Mini has brushed metallic finish. It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out the box. Camera There's a 5MP rear facing camera given with HDR facility, Face detection, Touch focus and Panorama shot.
Moreover, consumers can take advantage of LED Flashlight and digital zoom. The rear camera will be capable of recording videos at 720p HD (@30fps). Also add a VGA quality front facing camera. Battery and Other Connectivity Options The makers have decided to go for a 1,700mAh Li Ion battery. The phone supports dual SIM functionality. Other connectivity options include: 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, a microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 A2DP, dual SIM standby, GPS with A-GPS, and micro SIM, among others.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Mini will be announced around mid-October with a price tag of Rs. 10,000. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates.
