Apple's annual World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) is scheduled next month in San Francisco, where we're expected to see the next-generation iPhone - likely to be called the iPhone 6S.
The event- which kicks off June 8 and will be streamed live - will be important from the Cupertino-based tech giant. Of course, the real draw of the WWDC isn't just the upcoming iOS 9 mobile OS. In fact, it's being repeatedly claimed that Apple might showcase the successor to the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus at its annual developer conference.
While the event is mostly focused on software, Apple's upcoming hardware devices are likely to be in the centre focus of the rumours.
From force touch to the updated camera, here's a quick look at the Apple iPhone 6S rumours ahead of Apple's World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC).
Rumour 1: Three iPhone Devices
There will be three variants of the iPhone 6S, one with a Full HD display and another with a QHD display. In addition, Apple is expected to launch a 4-inch screen sized iPhone, aimed at India and China. The device in question will be the successor to the iPhone 5C. Since the 4-inch iPhone 5C is still on sale, Apple may like to support the 4-inch form factor.
Rumour 2: Force Touch Screen
Similar to the Apple Watch, the iPhone 6S is rumoured to feature a Force Touch screen. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities (via AppleInsider ) recently claimed the next-generation iPhone will indeed feature Force Touch input. According to Kuo, Force Touch on the iPhone will represent "the most significant change" to date in the iPhone user interface. In fact, the change will be so substantial that he believes Apple may decide to call the handset the "iPhone 7," rather than an "iPhone 6S.
Rumour 3: Edge-to-edge Display
The next iPhones could, apparently, come with an edge-to-edge display, just like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The move could give Apple a chance to fight against Samsung neck-to neck.
Rumour 4: Sapphire iPhone 6s Plus Display
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities claims that Apple could use a Sapphire screen on the iPhone 6S Plus model. The Sapphire layer was rumoured for the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus last year but it was scrapped at the end moment. The Apple Watch uses a sapphire screen on the two of its expensive models.
Rumour 5: iPhone 6S Camera
Apple has continued to focus on improving the imaging feature with each iPhone release. Multiple rumours suggest that the iPhone 6S camera will feature a new 12MP sensor. Apple's iPhone 6 includes an n 8MP sensor and the iPhone 6 Plus uses the same sensor but offers optical image stabilization. Kevin Wang, IHS Technology Research Director, China says the iPhone 6s will use a 12MP sensor with smaller pixels.
Rumour 6: New Rose Gold Colour Option
The current-generation iPhone 6 is available in three colour option: gold, silver and space grey. Now, according to media reports, Apple may add a rose gold colour option when it launches the iPhone 6S.
Rumour 7: Improved Touch ID
Using Touch ID on the iPhone 6 isn't embarrassing, but it is not perfect either. To make things smooth, Apple may will add a better Touch ID sensor to push Apple Pay further, ahead of its global rollout..
Rumour 8: Faster Processor
The next-generation Apple iPhone will likely to take advantage of the company's next-generation A9 chipset. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will feature a new Apple A9 processor and 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM according to Ming-Chi Kuo.
Rumour 9: iOS 9
Often the new iPhone comes as a flagship device for the latest iOS. This year, too, we'll get to see the unveiling of the latest iOS. We expect to learn more about the iOS 9 mobile OS at WWDC 2015 in June, but the company will not disclose full features until later year.
