Exclusive: Alcatel Set to Debut OneTouch Hero 2 This July

While everyone is busy reporting the launch of Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ in India, let us inform you that the Chinese company has also introduced the much hyped OneTouch Hero phablet in the country.

 

At the launch of Idol X+ in a Delhi-based event, which was held on Thursday, Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, APAC, Alcatel One Touch, exclusively revealed to GizBot that the OneTouch Hero has been launched in India, alongside the Idol X+.

 

Even though the company is not willing to promote the OneTouch Hero as aggressively as its latest Idol X+, but we have just seen an advertisement of the Hero phablet published in a prominent newspaper just a day back, making us believe that Alcatel is all set to play a long-term game in India.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero Launched in India at Rs 28,500

Alcatel's OneTouch Hero, a 6-inch Full HD phablet, is now available across the country at Rs. 28,500. The big-ticket Android phone was originally launched last year at IFA Berlin tech show. The device sports a 6-inch Full HD display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a massive 3,400mAh battery.

The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean powered handset's display integrates a dedicated digitizer, including a stylus and stylus-optimized applications. Furthermore, the device also come with a special cover with E-Ink screen, which allow users to read e-books without turning on the smartphone's display.

There's also the MagicFlip cover, which offers LED notifications of alerts. Also, included in the package, is a Bluetooth-enabled accessory phone allows you to receive SMS, calendar entries, place voice calls, sync phonebook and so much more without removing the larger device from your pocket or bag.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 Tipped To Arrive in July?

While the original OneTouch Hero is yet to be made available globally, the company has already planned to reveal the next-gen handset, likely to be called as Hero 2. In an exclusive chat with GizBot, Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, APAC, Alcatel One Touch, accepted for the first time that users will get to see the Hero 2 ,though he wasn't comfortable sharing the specs sheet nor exact release for that matter.

But now, undisclosed sources close to Alcatel have revealed more information about the Hero 2. The Hero 2 phablet is expected to be officially launched in July of this year with 4G LTE connectivity, and will run on Android 4.4 Kitkat out-of-the-box. However, there has been no word of confirmation on the Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2's specification and features. Watch this space for more action!

Alcatel To Debut Pop 7 and Pop 8 Tablets in India By Next Month

Alcatel OneTouch will bring two 3G-enabled tablets into Indian market in June of this year, Gizbot has exclusively learned. The OneTouch Pop 7, as the name suggests, will be a 7-inch tablet and might cost Rs. 11,000 in India. On the other hand, the OneTouch Pop 8, with an 8-inch display, will carry a price tag of Rs. 15,000. Both tablets will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean mobile OS.

The One Touch Pop 7 will come with a 7-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core MediaTek MT8312 processor along with Mali 400 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

There's a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. The tablet offers 4GB inbuilt storage, which can be further expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The makers have added a 3240mAh battery fitted inside.

The Alcatel One Touch Pop 8 tablet sports an 8-inch 1280x800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The device has a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and also houses a VGA quality front-facing camera.

The Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 and Pop 8 were originally announced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), back in January 2014.

Alcatel To Bring 4G LTE Tablets in August

Looks like Alcatel is positioning itself as a brand to reckon with in the tablet market. This coming August, Alcatel OneTouch is prepping to introduce another set of tablets, featuring 4G LTE connectivity. The OneTouch Idol Pop Ultra 7, Pop Ultra 8, will be LTE enabled. No word on battery life, and exact spec sheet.

Alcatel To Launch Two Wi-Fi Only Tablets in 7" and 8" Screen Sizes

Last but not the least, a source close to GizBot also disclosed details about Alcatel's upcoming Wi-Fi only tablet. The new tablets will be offered in 7-inch and 8-inch screen sizes. Moreover, these forthcoming tablets will run on Android 4.4 Kitkat out-of-the-box. There's still no word on the pricing, spec sheet and release date.
