While the world is moving towards big screen devices, there's a company that wants consumers to get a taste of world's smallest touch screen handset.
Vphone, the Chinese company that was established in year 2010 has developed the world's smallest touch screen handset that looks like a smartwatch but works as a smartphone. It has a working tiny touch display, a mini SIM card slot and all other required smartphone features.
The company behind the innovative device has not shared any details on its availability for Indian market, but the handset is bound to turn heads during its future launch in country. Here's everything you need to know about the world's smallest touch screen smartphone.
As Tiny as a Smartwatch
Vphone S8 looks like a strapless smartwatch. The handset measures 46.7 mm x 37.3 mm x 9.9 mm and is 30 grams in weight. It resembles Apple Watch's dial if you see it without the straps. The device is made out of aluminium magnesium alloy and sports three capacitive buttons below the display.
There is a 380mAh battery unit on board to power up the tiny smartphone and a SIM card slot (mini SIM) to help you use it as a separate device.
1.54-inch touch screen display
The Vphone S8 comes with a 1.54-inch touch screen display with 2.5D curved glass screen. The screen displays time, incoming calls, messages and a host of other useful things.
Android and iOS compatible
As we mentioned that S8 is an extension to your primary smartphone, you need to pair it up with your handset to use its services. Vphone S8 is compatible with Android as well as iOS and the company is working to add platforms to its compatibility list.
You can pair the S8 with your smartphone via Bluetooth, and can use it to make or receive phone calls, read and reply SMS and use social networking apps.
As the smartphone is just an extension of your primary handset, it does not need top-of-the line hardware to function. There is 128MB of ROM on board paired up with 64MB of RAM. However, S8 also supports 8GB of T-Flash memory to store more data if required. The smartphone is powered by a MT2502 processor.
Good on Connectivity and sensors
As far as connectivity goes, S8 has Bluetooth v4.0, 5 PIN USB, USB 2.0 and an FM radio. The smartphone has a Light-sensor and is also equipped with a heart rate monitor, and a motion chip.
