Gionee S Plus: Top 5 Best and Worst 5 features of the smartphone
Gionee today added a new smartphone dubbed the S Plus to its S Series of devices. The phone has been launched exclusively for Indian consumers, and is priced at Rs 16,999. This is the company's mid-range offering that has been launched to give a tough competition to the recently unveiled OnePlus X and Motorola Moto X Play.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro: Top rumored specs of Xiaomi's upcoming rival to OnePlus X
In terms of specifications, the Gionee S Plus packs in high-end specs and features which include USB Type C and fast charging capabilities. These features a few of the most trending features we see on smartphone these days. Besides these, the phone brings a handful or other interesting specifications to get an edge over its rivals in this space.
Despite good specs and design, there is nothing that we have not seen before in this price range. Considering that this is not the first phone to get launched with such features and specs, let's take a look at five things that make it a cool phone and 5 things that could have been added to make it an even better offering for its price.
Let's start with five things we love about the phone.
USB Type-C port
One of the key features of the phone is the USB Type-C port, which makes it one of the very few mid-range phones that have this feature.
13MP Camera
The phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front. The camera is supported with several editing tools and features like Rumble effect, face beauty and more.
Octa-core CPU with 3GB of RAM
The phone is powered by MediaTek MT6753 64-bit octa-core chipset paired with a massive 3GB of RAM and 1^ GB of expandable memory.
Big battery with fast charging
Inside the phone, there is a 3,150mAh battery that should last for a day on a single charge. But just in case the phone runs out of battery, it will get charged instantly du eto the fast charging capabilities.
Android Lollipop
The phone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under Gionee's native Amigo 3.1 UI which comes with several features and tweaks.
5 features that could have been made better
OnePlus X dons a metal body design, which gives it an edge over Gionee S Plus that has a plastic body.
AMOLED display
The phone features a 5.5-inch AMOLED HD display offering 1280×720 pixels resolution and topped with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Considering that the phone's competitors like Moto X Play comes with a higher resolution display, we wished this phone had FHD display resolution.
Fingerprint sensor
A fingerprint scanner has become kind of the ‘in' feature on smartphones. Now that there are smartphones like CoolPad Note 3 that feature a fingerprint scanner and is priced aggressively for close to Rs 9,000, we think Gionee S Plus could have got an advantage with this feature on board.
Water resistant capabilities
Another feature that we feel is missing from this phone is water resistant capabilities, which make a phone more durable. The Moto X Play is not exactly water proof, but it can bear accidental water splashes.
Selfie Camera
Gionee S plus sports a 5MP front-facing camera for selfie lovers, but OnePlus X on the other hand adorns an 8MP front facing snapper.
