The Shenzhen-based handset maker, Huawei has launched its much-expected P9 smartphone in the Indian market as promised at an event in New Delhi today. The main highlight of this device is the Leica certified dual camera on the back with Leica SUMMARIT lenses promising brilliant image quality. Also, the Huawei P9 is the official smartphone of Amazon fashion week!
Initially, Huawei has launched P9 along with P9 Plus, a couple of months ago at an event in London. The full metal build device has a fingerprint sensor with 3D fingerprint sensor technology on the back.
As per the company, this fingerprint sensor uses a 3D sensing technology giving a bit more depth and security to the device. Further, this sensor has four levels -- Ridge flow, Ridge formation, Ridge path and Ridge depth.

Aesthetically pleasing design!
With P9, Huawei has joined the bandwagon of the prettiest smartphone this year along with Galaxy S7, LG G5.
This smartphone measures 145×70.9×6.95mm and weigh around 144grams.
Talking about the button placements, this smartphone has USB Type C, Speaker grill and 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom, power, volume button on right, and microphone on top.
AMOLED display with 96% saturation!
Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels translating into a 423ppi.
With this display, the smartphone offers 96% saturation and high contrast as well. Moreover, this flagship uses an IPS-NEO LCD panel by JDI, that gives the maximum nits of 500.
More performance with Kirin 955 SoC
In terms of hardware, the Huawei P9 is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 955 (4x 2.5GHz A72, A53 4 x 1.8 GHz) processor with Mali T880-MP4 GPU under the hood. The Kirin 955 is one of the first SoC's that use the new Cortex-A72 architecture. Also, this architecture offers 15% more performance and energy efficient.
Talking about the storage, this smartphone comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, with an expandable option of up to 128GB via MicroSD card slot.
Leica certified camera! What else you need?
The USP of Huawei P9 is the Leica certified Dual camera set up on the back. Specs-wise, this smartphone comes with 12MP dual rear cameras with Leica SUMMARIT lenses, dual-tone LED flash, and f/2.2 aperture. On the front, it is backed by an 8MP camera with a f/2.4 aperture as well.
Witness the original Bokeh effect with P9 camera
Talking about the 12P dual camera setup, one is fairly standard and captures the colors while the other just captures the image in Black & White or Monochrome. On the secondary camera, the lack of bayer filter enables it to capture more light (300%) under low light conditions.
This camera is co-designed by Leica, a renowned camera maker that has a track record of manufacturing some premium and expensive cameras.
As per the company, P9 is the first smartphone that has the ability to capture true "Bokeh effect". With this effect, the camera creates a heavily out of focus areas around the frame leaving out the subject.
Too much of EMUI 4.1!
On the software front, this smartphone is shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on EMUI 4.1 out of the box. The EMUI 4.1 comes with lots of features including Dialing and contacts with yellow pages combination, Smart recognition of harassment, all-new storage cleaner, and other camera features.
NFC and USB Type C supported!
This flagship supports usual connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. Moreover, it also supports NFC and USB Type-C port for faster data transfer and quick charging technology.
40% charge in just 30 minutes
The inside hardware of the Huawei P9 is powered by a 3000mAh battery with fast charging technology. This smartphone has rapid charging with a 9V/2A charger, which fills about 40% of the battery in just 30 minutes.
And it's heavy!
Coming in Mystic Silver, Titanium Grey and Prestige Gold color variant, the Huawei P9 is priced at Rs. 39,999 in India exclusively on Flipkart.
On the other hand, the company also announced the stainless steel variant of the Android Wear-powered Watch with a price tag of Rs 22,999.
The smartphone and smartwatch will be available for sale from 3PM today. Besides, this flagship will be available in Poorvika and Croma later.
