IFA 2016: Sony Unveils its Xperia XZ Flagship with 23MP Camera, X-Reality Engine and More

Till now Sony's smartphone division has reported a downturn in sales, which is indeed a worrying sign for a company! In a desperate attempt to give a hit in the market, Japan-based handset maker Sony has launched yet another smartphone under 'X' series of smartphone.

IFA 2016: Sony Unveils its Xperia XZ Flagship with 23MP Camera

Dubbed as Xperia XZ, this new flagship is a successor to the Xperia X, that got launched two months ago.

This smartphone focuses on design, performance, camera, and battery life. Coming in Mineral Black, Forest Blue, and Platinum this smartphone will go on sale starting from early October.

Built out of ALKALEIDO material!

This smartphone is made up of a material called ALKALEIDO, a word for the rounded aluminum piece that is smudge resistant! This smartphone measures 146 x 72 x 8.1 mm and weighs around 161grams.

Supports X-Reality for mobile picture engine

The Sony Xperia XZ sports a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality for mobile picture engine for enhancing contrast and sharpness in photos and video. This smartphone comes with the unique technology -- Live Colour LED and Live Colour Creation, that helps the display to come up with rich colors.

Powered by the latest chipset!

The Xperia XZ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, with X12 LTE supports that give an efficient performance in connectivity, graphics, photography, power, and battery. Further, the Sony's unique Smart Cleaner technology automatically deactivates any apps not being used and clears the cache. The gaming performance is taken care of Adreno 530 GPU under the hood.

High standard internals

This Xperia XZ is equipped with 3GB RAM, 32GB of inbuilt storage, with an expandable option of up to 200GB via MicroSD card slot.

Xperia XZ has a new IMX300 sensor!

As usual, one of the highlighted features of the Xperia XZ is the 23MP rear camera. According to the spec sheet, the XZ comes with 23MP rear and 13MP front selfies. The Xperia XZ comes with triple image sensing technology that helps in capturing the photos and videos with accurate focus.

Also, the camera in Xperia XZ uses color and phase detection, along with laser assistance to calculate the distance correctly and track intelligently moving objects.

SteadyShot Intelligent Active Mode is the new OIS

However, this smartphone doesn't have the Optical Image Stabilization, instead, the company has opted for SteadyShot Intelligent Active Mode, that uses 5-axis gyroscope measurements to stabilize pictures and videos.

Selfie camera with 13MP on front

The Xperia XZ is equipped with a 13MP front camera with 1/3.06" low light sensor and 22mm wide angle lens. It supports a 4K video and 2x lossless zoom as well.

Xperia XZ is water resistant!

The Xperia XZ is shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It also supports other features such as water resistant and USB Type-C for faster data transfer.

XZ supports Quick Charge 3.0 Tech!

Talking about the battery, the Xperia XZ is juiced with 2,900mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Additionally, the smartphone also supports adaptive charging and learns when you are charging your battery, and stops fast charging around 90% and takes its time to charge you battery up to 100% till the morning.
