Though we know that there is a couple of months more for the official launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the internet is flooding with plenty of leaks and rumors revealing what we can expect from the smartphones.
While Apple is speculated to announce the new iPhones in September as usual, the reliable leakster @evleaks suggests that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus might be released during in the second week of September by saying the week of September 12.
As per Apple's launch pattern, the company will announce its products on a Friday. This has created rumors that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus might be released on September 16. However, there is no mention about the iPhone 7 Pro that has also been rumored to be launched along these models.
While we have some light on when we can expect the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the much-awaited smartphones of this year, we have come up with a roundup of what features and specifications these smartphones might bring.
Lately, we have been hearing and seeing a lot of features such as dual-camera setup, Smart Connector, better hardware, etc. Take a look to know more about the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
No more 16 GB variant
Apple is rumored to get rid of the 16 GB base storage variant of the iPhone by making the base storage capacity as 32 GB. The reason is that users are not find it enough to store all their data with the 13 GB user accessible capacity in the 16 GB variant.
256 GB storage variant?
Going by the reports, Apple is planning to increase the storage capacity of the high-end model to 256 GB from 128 GB. With the iPhones lacking the micro SD card for expandable storage, this alleged bumped up storage capacity should be useful for the iPhone fans. As per the reports, iPhone 7 will arrive in 32 GB, 64 GB and 256 GB variants and iPhone 7 Plus and the rumored iPhone 7 Pro will be launched in 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage capacity.
You will not find antenna bands
The annoying antenna bands that are found at the rear of the iPhones are expected to disappear from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The devices were leaked many times making it clear that the antenna lines are moved to the top and bottom edges. In fact, the recent reports have even confirmed the redesign.
When it comes to the presence of a Smart Connector, there are contradictory rumors. Some reports claim that the iPhone 7 will arrive with a Smart Connector that was introduced with the iPad Pro to connect the Smart Keyboard Cover and accessories such as charging docks. The other reports don't hint at the same. Maybe, we can expect it to be a part of the high-end variant alone.
No 3.5 mm jack!
It is long rumored that Apple is planning to skip the 3.5 mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The reason that Apple wants to do away with the 3.5 mm headphone jack is that it wants the next generation iPhones to be much slimmer than the existing ones. Also, it aims to provide a better quality audio experience with the Lightning port. We have been seeing leaked photos of Bluetooth or Lightning powered EarPods and rumors that the iPhones will arrive with Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter with usual 3.5 mm EarPods.
While iPhone 7 will arrive with a single camera lens setup, the dual-camera setup is believed to arrive on the larger iPhone 7 Plus. If so, this will be the first time Apple is coming up with dual-camera lens setup. This will change the quality of the photos and improve the color accuracy as well. It will also render faster autofocus.
Force Touch home button
As per a recent report, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus might arrive with the Force Touch technology on the home button. The report claims that Apple is redesigning the physical home button to replace it with the virtual one that will provide haptic feedback as well.
No Mute Button
Recently, the leaks suggested that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will not feature a mute switch on the either side of the handset. Apple usually places the mute button above the volume rocker, but it seems to be missing with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Going by a recent leak, iPhone 7 will be powered by a 1,960 mAh battery which is a great improvement from the 1,715 mAh battery in the iPhone 7 Plus.
Other Potential Changes
In comparison to the previous generation iPhones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are supported to arrive with OLED display, a fingerprint scanner that is integrated into the display, and a few other changes.
