Design & Display

All three smartphones feature a curved OLED display on the front, although the Agni 3's design is similar to that of its predecessor. The Blaze Curve features more extreme curvature than the Agni 2 and Agni 3. The Lava Agni 2 features a circular camera island on the back, while the Blaze Curve 5G opts for three individual camera modules on the back panel.

However, the Agni 3 5G gets the biggest upgrade here with the large rectangular camera island that includes a secondary OLED display. But this isn't just a gimmick and works with the recording app, music player, alarm clock, notifications, and more.

The Lava Agni 3 also features a segment first 'Action Button' that can also perform various features like take screenshots, open apps, start recording, and more. Moreover, the Lava Agni 3 comes with an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. While all three smartphones feature curved OLED displays, the Agni 3's screen boasts a higher resolution and can achieve a higher peak brightness.

Performance, Software, Battery

In terms of performance, the Lava Agni 3's MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chip is the fastest of the lot. And while it does offer a 30% increase in performance over the MediaTek 7050 SoC on the Blaze Curve and Agni 2, it does fall short of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC. The Agni 3 also has a larger VC cooling area than the Blaze Curve 5G and Agni 2 5G.

Moving on to the software, and Lava has confirmed that the Agni 3 will get the Android 17 upgrade, where the Agni 2 and Blaze Curve will stop at Android 15. All three phones feature a clean interface with no bloatware, while the Agni 3 will also get four years of security updates.

Battery capacity on all three phones is nearly similar, although the Blaze Curve offers slower charging, while the Agni 2 has a slightly smaller cell. However, the addition of the secondary screen on the Agni 3 should result in lesser battery life. Moreover, the Agni 3 will cost an additional Rs 2,000 with the included adapter.

Cameras

The Lava Blaze Curve 5G and Agni 3 feature triple-rear cameras, while the Agni 2 opts for a quad-camera setup. Although the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor on the Agni 3 5G is the best of the three. It is worth noting that the Blaze Curve 5G's 64MP primary sensor is the weakest of the lot. Moreover, the Agni 2 and Blaze Curve's main camera doesn't support OIS like the Agni 3.

While the ultrawide camera on all three phones are similar, the Agni 3 ditches the needless 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors for an 8MP telephoto-portrait lens with 30x Super Zoom. Finally, the Blaze Curve 5G boasts a higher resolution 32MP selfie camera. However, Agni 3 users will have the benefit of snapping selfies with the rear cameras by using the secondary display as a viewfinder.

Lava Agni 3 vs Blaze Curve 5G vs Agni 2: Final Thoughts

The Lava Agni 3 fetches a much higher price tag than both the Blaze Curve 5G and Agni 2, particularly if you want a charging adapter in the box. The Lava Blaze Curve 5G is a solid sub-15K smartphone with good hardware for its price, although it won't receive an OS upgrade beyond Android 15.

With the adapter in the box, the Agni 3 will set you back Rs 8,500 more than the Blaze Curve 5G or Rs 6,000 more than the Agni 2 5G. However, we'd recommend paying the extra when it comes to the Agni 2 5G.

Not only does the Agni 3 bring substantial hardware upgrades over its predecessor, but it also offers better software support and a whole host of new hardware features to enhance the overall smartphone experience. The Action button and secondary OLED display are ground-breaking features in the sub-25K segment, making the Agni 3 5G worth the extra price.
