Earlier this month, the list of Motorola smartphones that will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update was revealed. It was stated that the Moto G4 and Z lineup of smartphones will be the first ones to get the update.
Now, the Moto G4 and G4 Plus smartphones across the world have started receiving the Android Nougat update. Even the users of these smartphones in India have started receiving the update.
You can check for the update from the settings menu of your phone or you can also try to download and install it manually as shown here. Make sure you download the update only when your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and has a battery charge of over 50 percent.

Swipe to shrink the screen
This feature is one of the useful Moto Actions. The 'swipe to shrink the screen' action lets you swipe up from the bottom of the smartphone in order to make the screen smaller so that one-handed use becomes convenient. Access this feature from Actions → Swipe to shrink the screen.
New setting added to Moto G4 Plus
There is a new setting that is added exclusively to the Moto G4 Plus. With this new setting, you can enable and disable locking whenever the screen is turned on and you touch the phone's fingerprint sensor at the front. You can access this setting from Settings → Security and click on screen lock gear icon.
The latest iteration of Google's OS, Android Nougat supports multi-window view that lets you run two applications side by side on your phone. Eventually, even the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones get the multi-window view feature and you can reply to a text message while you are browsing the internet or watching a video on your phone. You can activate the feature with a long press on the recent apps button while using a compatible app.
Work mode feature

Data saver is a boon
The data saver feature that is a part of the Android Nougat software helps in minimizing the cellular data usage significantly. With this feature turned on, you can choose which applications have unrestricted cellular data access. To turn it on, you need to navigate to Settings → Data Usage → Data Saver. You can make changes to Unrestricted data access to adjust the data access of applications.
Improved notification features
The Android Nougat update bundles improved and efficient notifications to the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones. You can reply quickly from any other app using the quick reply option in the notifications. This will work only on the compatible applications. Also, you can get more details with the bundled notifications feature. With this, you will get multiple notifications of an app in a single group and you can expand to see and take an appropriate action.
Doze on the go
The Android Nougat brings the improved Doze mode. With this improvement, your smartphone goes in the low power usage mode when you are not using it or when the screen is turned off.

Size of display elements
With Android Nougat, you can control the font size and the size of the display elements such as images and icons. To do so, you need to adjust the size of the display elements from Settings → Display and scroll to the option 'Display Size'.
