Moto Z Play with Moto Mods Announced: Here Are 10 Promising Features
Lenovo's Motorola has unveiled Moto Z Play smartphone at the IFA 2016. This device is the third one in the Moto Z lineup following the Moto Z and Z Force that were announced in June.
The Moto Z Play is a mid-ranger and it will hit the retail shelves this month. The device is priced at EUR 499 (approx. Rs 37,300). However, the price and availability of the Moto Z Play and the others in the Moto Z lineup in India remain unknown.

Moto Z Play supports Moto Mods that let you transform the phone into whatever you want it to be and the possibilities of the same are endless. Moto Z Play resembles Moto Z, Z Force
The mid-range Moto Z Play has a similar design as the Moto Z and Z Force. The major difference is that it has a back panel that is made of glass and not metal as in the premium offerings that were launched a few months back.
It features a water resistant design
The Moto Z Play is a water resistant smartphone as it features the water repellent nano-coating that is seen in the other smartphones in the Moto Z lineup. This makes it a better mid-ranger compared to the others in the market.
Motorola has included a 3.5 mm jack
While Moto Z and Z Force missed out on a 3.5 mm headphone jack for the USB Type-C connector, the Moto Z Play brings the conventional headphone jack back to the customers.
Moto Z Play has a gorgeous display
Moto Z Play is fitted with a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display rendering a pixel density of 403 ppi. Also, there is Gorilla Glass protection on the screen. The screen is an ideal one for all your entertainment needs.
There's a front-facing fingerprint sensor
For security purposes, Moto Z Play is integrated with a fingerprint scanner. This scanner is at the front as in the Moto G4 Plus.
Camera aspects seem impressive
The Z Play smartphone arrives with a 16 MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture. Also, there is a 5 MP front-facing camera, wide-angle lens and LED flash for an impressive camera performance.
Blazing-fast processor is included
The Moto Z Play features an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor under its hood. The processor is clocked at 2 GHz and it is paired with 3 GB of RAM as well. There are two storage options - 32 GB and 64 GB that can be expanded up to 2 TB with a micro SD card.
Up to 50 hours of battery backup
The Moto Z Play is given a 3,510 mAh battery that is claimed to render a backup of up to 50 hours on a single charge. Also, the device is equipped with the TurboPower charging feature.
Moto Mods gives endless customization options
Moto Mods are snap-on accessories introduced with the Moto Z and Z Force smartphones. These can be attached magnetically to the smartphone using the 16-pin connector at the bottom. It can convert the Z Play smartphone into a portable stereo, battery powerhouse, portable projector, and more. Right now, there are 3 Moto Mods such as Incipico offGRID Power Pack with an additional 2,220 mAh battery offering up to 22 hours of backup, JBL SoundBoost with high-quality JBL stereo speakers and a 1,000 mAh battery, and InstaShare Projector that can project the phone's display and it has a 1,100 mAh battery.
Camera is taken to the next level with Moto Mods
The smartphone camera experience to the next level with the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod. Motorola has clubbed with the legendary photography brand Hasselblad to render advanced imaging experience with the 10x optical zoom and shooting RAW a reality on mobile.
