Motorola Edge 60 Fusion vs Nord CE 4 vs Phone 3a: Detailed Breakdown

Design, Build, Display

The Edge 60 Fusion comes with a textile-inspired or vegan leather back panel, while the front of the phone is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 features a plastic back with Panda Glass protection on the front. Finally, the Nothing Phone 3a uses an unnamed glass back and front panel. While the Edge 60 Fusion and Phone 3a use aluminium frames, the Nord CE 4 opts for a plastic frame.

The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion boasts a curved display, while the Nord CE 4 and Nothing Phone 3a come with flat screens. The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion boasts an IP68 rating, offering comprehensive protection against water and dust, unlike the minor splash resistance on the Phone 3a and Nord CE 4.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 features a traditional back panel, something you'd appreciate if you prefer subtility over style and edge. On the other hand, the Edge 60 Fusion boasts a more polished finish, giving it a more elegant look. Lastly, the Phone 3a boasts an edgy design with the transparent back and glyph interface complete with LED lights.

All three smartphones opt for 120Hz OLED displays, although the Edge 60 Fusion has a higher resolution, making it sharper than the competition. The Moto Edge 60 Fusion also offers the highest level of brightness. The screens on all three phones also support HDR10+ content.

Performance, Software, Battery

It is worth noting that we haven't tested all three phones, although the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip on the OnePlus Nord CE 4 is faster than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC on the Phone 3a and the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset on the Edge 60 Fusion.

While all three chips are capable of handling multitasking and gaming with ease, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on the Nord CE 4 can do it slightly better than the rest. It is worth noting that the base variant of the Edge 60 Fusion offers double the storage capacity than the base model of the other two phones.

Motorola Edge 60 Fusion vs Nothing Phone 3a vs OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G

All three phones run on Android 15, although the Phone 3a and Edge 60 Fusion run the latest version of Google's OS out of the box, thus offering better software support than the Nord CE 4 5G. All three phones also come with their own software skins with minimal bloatware and pre-installed apps. We prefer Nothing OS on the Phone 3a, although OxygenOS (Nord CE 4) and Hello UI (Edge 60 Fusion) also offer their fair share of customizability and AI features.

In terms of battery capacity, the Edge 60 Fusion and Nord CE 4 use a 10% larger cell than the Nothing Phone 3a. And while all three phones feature fast charging support, the Nord CE 4's 100W wired charging is the fastest of the three. It is worth noting that the Nothing Phone 3a doesn't include an adapter in the box, adding to its cost.

Cameras

The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion boasts a 50MP Sony LYT-700C primary sensor with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide lens offering a 120° field of view. Up front, the Edge 60 Fusion opts for a 32MP selfie camera. The Edge 60 Fusion supports 4K video recording on both the front and rear cameras. Additionally, the Edge 60 Fusion's main camera is validated by Pantone.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 features a 50MP Sony LYT600 primary sensor and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens, giving it more versatility than the Realme 14 Pro 5G. Moreover, the Nord CE 4 5G also has a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The Nord CE 4 also supports 4K video recording at 30fps on the primary rear camera.

The Nothing Phone 3a offers the most versatility of the three phones. The Nothing Phone 3a boasts an unnamed 50MP primary sensor with OIS support. Moreover, the Phone 3a also gets a 50MP telephoto shooter for better portrait shots and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Up front, the Phone 3a opts for a 32MP selfie camera. The Phone 3a also supports 4K video 30fps on the primary rear camera.

Camera Conclusion

We haven't tested the cameras on all three smartphones, although the Edge 60 Fusion's main camera is the largest of the three. Additionally, it also has the best ultrawide lens and it is the only one of the three phones that support 4K video recording on both the front and rear cameras. While the Nothing Phone 3a also features a capable primary and selfie camera, its 8MP ultrawide lens uses an outdated sensor.

However, the Phone 3a brings the additional versatility of a telephoto shooter. Finally, the Nord CE 4 does offer a decent primary camera, it is lacking in the other areas. Overall, we'd prefer the versatility of the Phone 3a, although the Edge 60 Fusion is the better option for video recording.

Motorola Edge 60 Fusion vs Nothing Phone 3a vs OnePlus Nord CE 4: Conclusion

Both the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and the Nothing Phone 3a excel in different areas, trading blows in design, camera versatility, and build quality. The Phone 3a impresses with its edgy design and added telephoto shooter, delivering a versatile camera setup.

However, the Edge 60 Fusion ultimately edges ahead by offering a more polished design, a sharper and brighter display, and advanced video recording capabilities with 4K on both ends. Its competitive pricing is bolstered by double the storage in the base variant and the inclusion of an adapter-advantages that significantly enhance its value proposition.

It's worth noting that while the Edge 60 Fusion takes the overall win in value and feature set, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 does deliver superior performance thanks to its Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, making it a strong contender for those prioritizing raw speed.
