OnePlus 6 official launch date is just around the corner. The India launch event of OnePlus' much-awaited flagship is to take place at 15:00 IST on 17th May, 2018 in Mumbai. OnePlus will sell the new flagship smartphone on Amazon.in in two storage variants- 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM and 8GB + 256GB ROM. Besides, OnePlus will also introduce Marvel Avengers Limited edition OnePlus 6 x on the same day.
OnePlus has also confirmed that the company will also hold exclusive pop-ups events across 8 cities (Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad) in India on May 21 and May 22, 2018. OnePlus fans and interested customers will be able to experience and purchase the upcoming OnePlus 6 for over two days, on a first-come-first-serve basis.
As far as pricing is concerned, OnePlus 6 might cost Rs 39,999 for the standard variant, which will have 6GB RAM and possibly 128GB storage. The higher storage-RAM variant and the special edition OnePlus 6 x may cross the Rs. 40,000 mark. Now, the big question that must have crossed your mind is, which variant is right for you? Should you go ahead with the standard 6GB RAM variant or spend extra to get the 8GB RAM variant of the new flagship smartphone.
To help you out in making the right decision, we have done some homework and want to share our thoughts with you. Let's have a look.
6GB RAM vs 8GB RAM
OnePlus follows a strict strategy with its products. The higher storage variants of OnePlus handsets are always coupled with some extra amount of RAM. In the case of OnePlus 6, the topmost variant will get 8GB of RAM, which is 2GB extra memory as compared to the standard variant. While this will make a slight difference in the everyday performance of the handset, the extra 2GB RAM will come handy if you want to push your handset to extreme limits throughout the day.
We have tested both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants of OnePlus' devices and have noticed little or no difference in their performance. Even in extreme cases, we were only able to consume a little more than 5GB of RAM on the standard variant and still did not experience any performance slowdown. With OnePlus' OxygenOS and best-in-class CPU, you are set to experience the similar flagship experience even with the standard variant. We wouldn't recommend spending extra amount if your only concern is smooth day-to-day operation.
64GB/128GB Storage vs 256GB RAM Storage
While the 2GB RAM is not going to make any major noticeable difference, the extra internal storage is indeed a deciding factor to make a decision. The higher variant of OnePlus 6 is expected to offer an internal storage of 256GB, which is exactly double of what the standard variant has to offer, if OnePlus decides to skip the 64GB variant. This is a lot of storage and if you like to carry the world in your pocket, the higher variant will be the ideal fit.
Marvel Avengers Edition OnePlus 6
OnePlus will also launch the Special Edition OnePlus 6 on the same day. As far as we know, the Marvel Avengers Limited Edition OnePlus 6 is expected to feature 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Following the last year's trend, OnePlus is expected to price the Limited Edition OnePlus 6 slightly higher than the regular OnePlus 6 variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. This once again can put you in a tight spot to make a final decision. If you are a die-hard fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe, you know which variant you need to buy. If you just care about higher storage, the standard 8GB variant of OnePlus 6 will get the job done.
Specs based on most recent leaks and official sources
The above information must have given you some clarity about which variant of the OnePlus 6 suits your requirement. Marvel fans who also like to store a lot of multimedia content on their handsets can simply go ahead with the limited edition OnePlus 6 variant. To others, we recommend the standard 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of OnePlus 6.
OnePlus 6 is going to be an Amazon exclusive product. We will keep updating this space for all the updates on the launch of the upcoming OnePlus flagship smartphone. Stay tuned on Gizbot.com.
