OnePlus 6 Roundup: Specifications, features and expected price
Everything you need to know about the upcoming OnePlus 6 at one place.
The wait is about to get over as OnePlus 6 is soon going to be a reality. The smartphone is topping the rumor mill since the day one of its announcements and its only getting bigger by time. As the official launch day is getting closer, we thought of giving you a better look at the confirmed specifications, features and the expected price of the upcoming flagship smartphone.
The following information is based on the month's long leaks, rumors and also the official data shared by the OnePlus team. You just can't afford to miss these details if you are a true OnePlus fan and cannot wait for OnePlus 6 to see the light of the day. So let's get started.
Top-of-the line Hardware
It is now widely understood that the upcoming OnePlus 6 will feature the best-in-class hardware in town. Taking things to next level, OnePlus 6 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 CPU paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The combination is going to deliver the unmatched speed and efficiency, which every user deserve from a modern mobile phone. Moreover, if previous reports are to be believed, the OnePlus 6 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system right out of the box. The smartphone is also expected to get upgraded to Android P by the end of this year.
More Screen real-estate
The new OnePlus 6 will give even more reasons to love the gorgeous AMOLED panel that we have experienced on OnePlus 5T. OnePlus 6 will sport a 6-inch edge-to-edge display with a notch that is slated to deliver the best-in-class multimedia experience. The bezel-less design will offer an impressive screen-to-body ratio to provide more usable screen real estate for reading, web browsing, gaming and video playback.
Some teasers suggest that OnePlus 6 is also supposed to have gesture control support. A six-second video surfaced online with the tagline, "Speed up your experience with gestures".
The video showed the number 6 and various swipe gesture actions that could bring an all new way to use the new OnePlus device.
Premium design with some never seen before colors
We have never faced any quality issues with the design of OnePlus devices and we expect the same from the upcoming flagship handset. The most recent update in the design department comes from the official sources which tell a lot about the design of OnePlus 6. The company released the first official image of the OnePlus 6 on Twitter with the tagline, 'More immersion in a refined form factor'. The image shows the vertically stacked dual rear camera setup, the circular fingerprint scanner, and the OnePlus branding. As expected, the left side of the OnePlus has the volume rockers and the signature 'Alert Slider', which is said to come with extended functionality.
From the looks of it, we can say that the OnePlus 6 is aesthetically pleasing owing to its smooth finish, rounded corners and gentle curves. Besides, we can also expect OnePlus to launch the new handset in some interesting new colors as some past renders showed a new Blue color OnePlus 6. Guess what, we don't have to wait for long to find out the answer.
3.5mm Headphone jack intact
OnePlus 6 will retain the most loved 3.5mm headphone jack. This is indeed a talk of the town as majority of the flagship smartphones have ditched the basic feature in order to make their devices sleeker than ever and to promote wireless functionality. But only few smartphone brands understand that it's not a harm to offer both the features in one product, which is only going to make things easy and flexible for end-user. With OnePlus 6, you would be free to use any standard earphones and even the wireless ones depending upon your comfort.
Revamped dual-lens camera setup and bigger battery
The new OnePlus 6 is said to sport a dual-lens camera setup with a bump in the Sony image sensor to further improve the image quality. We don't have much information on the camera of the OnePlus 6; however, it is confirmed that the image quality is going to get a definite boost.
Besides, the OnePlus 6 is also expected to feature a bigger battery unit. We can expect a 3,500mAh battery unit running the show on the OnePlus 6 with the upgraded Dash charging to further improve the charging speed of the OnePlus devices.
Expected launch date
The rumors suggest that OnePlus 6 could drop earlier than June 2018, breaking the usual pattern of company's flagship launch cycle. We actually don't mind it as this only gives us hope of seeing and testing the handset earlier than ever. The launch date timeline was further hinted by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who confirmed that the company's next flagship will be released in late Q2, 2018.
Expected Price-point
OnePlus is known for its terrific specs, premium design and power packed products sold for a fraction of the cost of other major flagships. The upcoming OnePlus 6 will continue the trend and is not expected to cost a bomb as compared to other handset with similar specs and features. The expected price of OnePlus 6 for 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM variant is around Rs. 40,000.
