OnePlus 6T Screen Unlock will forever change the way you interact with your phone
Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus has confirmed that Screen Unlock marks a momentous leap forward in unlock technology, delivering unmatched speed and convenience.
After months of leaks and rumors related to new in-display fingerprint scanner on OnePlus 6T, we have finally got concrete information from official sources. Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus has now officially confirmed that OnePlus 6T will deliver an incredibly fast in-display unlock experience. The leading premium smartphone maker teased the new feature in a short video hinting at the futuristic 'Screen Unlock' technology on company's much-awaited new flagship smartphone.
You could easily spot the new flagship smartphone in the video. The 5-second video reveals the extremely thin bezels and the new in-display fingerprint scanner in the most subtle manner. We are expecting some great results from the OnePlus 6T's in-display fingerprint scanner. The team at OnePlus has spent months shaving milliseconds off the unlock time and carefully refining the unlock animation to ensure a satisfying experience in everyday smartphone use.
Having said that, we couldn't wait to inform you on how the new technology works in the upcoming flagship smartphone. So, let's have a look.
What goes into the making of OnePlus 6T Screen Unlock Technology?
OnePlus believes that innovation is about pushing the limits of technology together with our users. The in-display fingerprint scanner technology is far more complex than regular biometric scanners. Screen Unlock on OnePlus 6T is much more than just a module attached to the back of the screen. It encompasses a wide array of software processes and hardware components that were carefully tuned to work perfectly with the OnePlus 6T.
The upcoming smartphone will feature the most advanced version of the in-display fingerprint sensing technology. It will work on an optical fingerprint module, which houses a small lens that can accurately register your fingerprint as it presses down on the cover glass. The screen on OnePlus 6T will be used as a light source to enhance the outline of your fingerprint, enabling the sensor to accurately read its exact dimensions and shape.
Faster and much more Secure
OnePlus has combined the latest hardware with self-learning software algorithms that intelligently preloads your fingerprint information to create an incredibly fast in-display unlock experience. The engineers at OnePlus has used a dedicated 'Trust Zone' which is found in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to store your fingerprint information. The zone serves as an isolated virtual space for the sake of confidentiality.
The moment you will place your finger on the specified spot on the OnePlus 6T's screen, your fingerprint will be compared to the information stored in the Trust Zone to ensure authenticity and actively defend against false patterns. OnePlus mentions that several software algorithms have been tested and applied in the making of Screen Unlock feature. OnePlus 6T is said to learn to recognize your fingerprint with higher accuracy through extended use.
Step into future with OnePlus 6T
We are just weeks away from the launch of OnePlus 6T and cannot hold back our excitement. We must inform you that Screen Unlock will mark a momentous leap forward in unlock technology for OnePlus devices. It is destined to deliver unmatched speed and convenience. It was first tested on OnePlus 5T when the OnePlus engineers used early prototypes - the 1st generation optical fingerprint module.
The technology was not entirely convincing and OnePlus decided to improve it further for end-users. After numerous tests, OnePlus finally tested the final version of Screen Unlock technology and made it ready to deliver the unmatched speed and reliability that we as users deserve.
Entirely new Smartphone user experience
We have tested all the OnePlus smartphone in the past and can totally believe Pete Lau when he says that OnePlus 6T is shaping up to be dramatically different than its predecessors. In addition to the latest hardware and software, OnePlus 6T will offer much better durability as compared to previous OnePlus devices. In an interview to Cnet.com, OnePlus CEO mentioned that the upcoming smartphone will be more water resistant than any of its predecessors and can survive an accidental drop in the sink or a splash during a rainstorm.
This makes us even more eager to test the new upcoming OnePlus flagship smartphone. Going by the latest information, OnePlus 6T is expected to make an official launch in the third week of October. Amazon.in has also taken live a 'Notify Me' page for regular updates on the OnePlus 6T. We advise you to stay tuned on Gizbot for more updates on the upcoming flagship smartphone.
