The Redmi Turbo 5 just launched in India today, and it's already shaking up a segment that was already pretty competitive. At Rs 37,999, it's going up against the POCO X8 Pro at Rs 34,999, and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro at Rs 39,999. All three are worth your money.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro does something different. Performance

All three phones run the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 series on 4nm, but the approach to performance is quite different across the three.

The Redmi Turbo 5 and POCO X8 Pro are both clearly built with gamers in mind. The Turbo 5 packs a 480Hz touch sampling rate, and both phones come with large vapour chamber cooling systems designed to keep the chip running at full speed during extended gaming sessions. HyperOS 3 also adds a dedicated gaming mode with performance optimisation tools baked in.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro takes a more all-rounder approach. It runs the Dimensity 8500 Extreme, which is a thermally tuned variant of the same chip, and Motorola's focus here is on consistent everyday performance rather than peak gaming output.

All three use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, so app loading and general snappiness are quick across the board. The Turbo 5's 12GB variant gets the slightly faster LPDDR5X Ultra tier, but it's not a difference you'll notice in daily use.

If gaming is a priority, the Turbo 5 and X8 Pro are the more purpose-built options here. The Edge 70 Pro is no slouch, but it's not what it's optimised for.

Camera

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the standout here. It gets a dual 50MP rear camera setup with the main sensor featuring OIS, plus a 50MP autofocus front camera. That front camera resolution is notably higher than the 20MP shooters on both the Turbo 5 and X8 Pro.

The Redmi Turbo 5 makes sense if you're a heavy user who's constantly fighting low battery anxiety. The 7,560mAh cell is genuinely class-leading at this price, and paired with 100W charging, you're looking at a phone that can easily last for days.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is for the buyer who wants a well-rounded phone rather than one built around a single strength. It has the best display of the three, the strongest camera setup including a 50MP front camera, near-stock Android, and a build that genuinely feels premium.
