Design, Build, Display

Both the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G take their design ques from the more expensive Galaxy S24 series. The two Galaxy A series smartphones feature a similar design, with the A35 5G being updated with the punch-hole camera cutout. Moreover, the power and volume buttons on the right, slightly protrude out of the frame.

While the two phones feature identical designs, the Galaxy A55 5G opts for a more-premium build, with the use of an aluminum frame as opposed to a plastic frame on the A35 5G. Both phones have Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and a glass back panel as well as an IP67 rating for resistance to dust and water.

The displays on the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A55 5G are identical in terms of size, resolution, pixel density, brightness level, and refresh rate. They also support an Always-on feature. However, it does appear that the Galaxy A55 5G's screen supports HDR10+.

Performance, Battery

Performance is where the main differences between the two smartphones lie. The Exynos 1480 chipset does offer an advantage in performance over the Exynos 1380. However, the newer Exynos 1480 SoC will have a significant upper hand in gaming, courtesy of the new AMD Xclipse 530 GPU. Additionally, both phones also share the same battery capacity, charging support, and software.

Cameras

We haven't tested out the cameras for the two Galaxy A series smartphones, although in terms of specifications alone, the Galaxy A55 5G does have the upper hand thanks to its 12 MP ultrawide lens, which is a set up from the 8 MP ultrawide shooter on the Galaxy A35 5G.

Both phones also share the same 50 MP primary sensor with OIS and a similar 5 MP macro shooter. However, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is equipped with a superior 32 MP selfie camera as opposed the 13 MP front camera on the Galaxy A35 5G.

Pricing

The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G price in India starts from Rs 30,999 for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB variant costs Rs 33,999. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G price in India starts from Rs 39,999 for the 8GB/128GB version. Additionally, the A55 5G also comes in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB configurations that costs Rs 42,999 and Rs 45,999, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G vs Galaxy A35 5G: Which One Should You Buy?

There's not a lot separating the Galaxy A55 and A35. The Galaxy A55 5G feels like the more premium of the two phones thanks to its metal frame. Moreover, it also features a better camera system and chipset. It is also worth noting that given Samsung's software support, the Galaxy A55 5G's more powerful chip will also show its legs later than the Galaxy A35 5G.

With a price difference of Rs 6,000 separating the two devices, we believe the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is the better of the two phones and offers the better value. Given the specifications of the two devices, the Galaxy A55 5G is in a much better position to compete with other phones in the segment as compared to the lackluster Galaxy A35 5G.
