Design, Build
The Samsung Galaxy F55 5G arrives with a vegan leather back panel, while the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes in vegan suede, vegan leather, and plastic finishes. Lastly, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G only features a matte plastic back panel.
All three phones boast plastic frames with glass protection on the front. Additionally, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes with an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water, while the Nord CE 4 5G is downgraded to an IP54 rating. The Edge 50 Fusion also features a curved screen as opposed to the flat displays on the Galaxy F55 5G and Nord CE 4 5G.
Display
All three phones are equipped with OLED displays, although the Edge 50 Fusion has a slightly higher refresh rate. Moreover, the screen on the Edge 50 Fusion is also brighter than the competition. On the other hand, the Nord CE 4 5G's panel supports HDR10+ content.
Performance
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G features the most powerful chipset of the three devices, while the Edge 50 Fusion comes in close second. On the other hand, the Galaxy F55 5G's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC does feel a little dated. We'd recommend the Nord CE 4 5G for gaming, while the SD 7 Gen 3 is also the most power efficient chip of the bunch.
Cameras
Moving on to optics and the Motorola does have an advantage in terms of hardware, with its 50 MP Sony LYT-700C primary sensor. The Edge 50 Fusion also has the highest resolution ultrawide shooter. The Galaxy F55 5G features an additional 2 MP macro unit.
In terms of software prowess, we'd have to give it to Samsung for its sheer experience. Additionally, the Galaxy F55 5G also has the highest resolution selfie camera. All three handsets support 4K resolution on the rear camera, although the Galaxy F55 5G brings 4K recording to the front camera as well.
Going by specifications alone, it is safe to say that all three phones should be evenly matched. However, the Edge 50 Fusion might have a slight advantage while snapping photos.
Battery
While the Galaxy F55 5G and Edge 50 Fusion pack large batteries, the Nord CE 4 5G bumps it up with a 10% larger cell. The Nord CE 4 5G also boasts the most power efficient chip. Lastly, the Nord CE 4 5G also features the fastest charging of the bunch, although the F55 5G doesn't include an adapter in the box.
Software
All three smartphones also run Android 14 out of the box. The Galaxy F55 5G brings the best software support with 4 years of OS updates and five years of security patches, one year more than Motorola and two years more than OnePlus.
The Galaxy F55 5G's One UI skin also brings the most customizable interface, although it is far from the near-stock Hello UI on the Edge 50 Fusion or the clean OxygenOS on the Nord CE 4 5G. In terms of software, Motorola offers the best balance of features and support, while maintaining a relatively cleaner interface.
Why the Samsung Galaxy F55 5G?
The Galaxy F55 5G offers the best software support and a premium leather finish. Moreover, it also features a vibrant display, a large battery with fast charging support, and good cameras. However, it does lag behind in performance and will set you back a few more bucks for a charging adapter, on top of already being the most expensive phone on the list.
Why the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion?
The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion offers the best balance of hardware and software of all three phones on this list. It is the perfect handset in this price range for the average user. The Edge 50 Fusion features good cameras, a reliable chipset, a vibrant display, a large battery with fast charging, an IP68 rating, and clean software with above-average support.
Why the OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G?
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G, on the other hand, is the best option on our list for gaming. But despite being able to perform, the Nord CE 4 5G doesn't compromise on the user experience. The Nord CE 4 5G features a powerful and power efficient chipset, a massive battery with incredibly fast charging, clean software, and a vibrant display. However, it does fall short in terms of software support and front camera performance.
