Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Specs, Display, Features, Compared
Tecno has been quite active in the budget and affordable Android smartphone segment, while Nothing is the brainchild of OnePlus. The Tecno Phantom X2 is a flagship Android smartphone that has been priced aggressively, while the Nothing Phone 1 is the brand's first premium-looking smartphone. Let's compare the specifications and features of these 5G-enabled Android smartphones to see which one could be a better choice.
Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Display
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G features a 6.8-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Nothing Phone 1 has a slightly smaller 6.55-inch 10-bit OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution. The 1080p screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and gets HDR10+ support as well.
It is interesting to see how similar the two smartphone displays are, despite the significant difference in pricing and market positioning.
Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Performance
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, which is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The Nothing Phone 1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, built on the 6nm fabrication process. Even the Nothing smartphone has a single 8GB + 128GB variant.
It is odd to see Nothing's first smartphone pack a midrange chipset. However, the Snapdragon 778G+ has been adopted by Xiaomi for the Poco X5 Pro 5G, which suggests other midrange Android smartphones could sport the same SoC.
Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Cameras
Tecno has embedded a triple-camera setup on the back of the Tecno Phantom X2 5G, headlined by a 64 MP 1/1.3" Samsung ISOCELL GNV 3.0 sensor, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP telephoto camera. The Tecno smartphone has a 32 MP selfie camera.
The Nothing Phone 1 has a dual camera setup featuring a 50MP primary shooter with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. It has a comparatively smaller 16MP front-facing camera.
The Tecno smartphone seems to beat the Nothing smartphone in the imaging department. However, Nothing has embedded dual 50MP lenses in the Nothing Phone 1.
Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Battery
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G is powered by a 5,160mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging. Nothing Phone 1 is powered by a significantly smaller 4500mAh battery. The Nothing phone supports 15W Qi wireless charging, and up to 33W fast charging tech as well.
The Tecno phone not only packs a larger battery, but it can also recharge at a faster speed compared to the Nothing smartphone. Battery endurance, however, will largely depend on usage scenarios.
Tecno Phantom X2 Vs Nothing Phone 1: Which One To Buy?
There's no doubt that Tecno has offered a capable and powerful Android smartphone in the form of the Tecno Phantom X2. Its elder sibling, the Tecno Phantom X2, has even better specifications.
The Nothing Phone 1, beats most Android smartphones in terms of looks and aesthetics owing to the "Glyph" interface. It packs midrange hardware, except for the AMOLED display.
The Tecno Phantom X2 may beat the Nothing Phone 1 in terms of specifications, but the Nothing smartphone does offer better value for money with a visual flair.
