The Zuk Z1 is coming to India: Here are 7 things you should know
Zuk, a Lenovo online-only sub-brand, is all set to launch their Zuk Z1 smartphone in India in May 2016. This brand is aimed at taking over the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus.
The Zuk Z1 is a decent mid-range smartphone that has a metal casing. It will most probably be priced to take on Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 and LeEco's Le1S. Here are the top 7 things you should watch out for on the Zuk Z1, coming soon to India!
1. Snapdragon 801 chipset
The processor powering the Zuk Z1 is the quite dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. This is the processor that was first seen on the OnePlus One and the Xiaomi Mi 4. So, being a two-year old processor, the SD 801 is still quite relevant and on par with some of the mid-range smartphones in today's date.
2. 5.5-inch Full HD display
The Zuk Z1 will sport a phablet-esque 5.5-inch display that has a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD). This is a decent display for the price and puts it on par with Le 1S and Redmi Note 3, which have the same unit.
3. Fingerprint sensor on the front
Contrary to the bulk of smartphones in this price range, the Zuk Z1 has an embedded fingerprint sensor on the home button itself, as opposed to on the back panel, below the camera sensor. The sensor is fairly fast and response time is quite low.
4. Dual-SIM support (Nano)
The Zuk Z1 accepts two Nano SIMs (GSM+GSM) and the slot is a pure SIM slot, not a Hybrid one. Both the slots will support 4G LTE-enabled SIM cards for faster cellular connectivity.
5. Decent internal storage
The smartphone has 64GB of inbuilt storage. With that amount of onboard internal data flash storage, you are sure to never run out of storage despite huge amounts of audio, video and photos on your smartphone. The Zuk Z1 does not have a microSD card slot, which isn't a deal breaker, to be honest.
6. USB Type-C Port
With the world moving towards this new technology for charging and data syncing, it was but natural for Zuk and Lenovo to incorporate the USB Type-C port on their mid-range smartphone, the Zuk Z1. With a reversible connector and fast charging support, the port will help offer better battery performance during regular daily usage.
7. Pricing and availability
According to press invites sent out to media persons, we can expect the official launch of the Zuk Z1 in India, by the first week of May. Sales are expected to start from second week of May. As it will be an online-exclusive smartphone, the Zuk Z1 will be available around its price in China, that is close to 1,800 Yuan or Rs. 19,000.
