Few days back, at the launch of Redmi Note 3 event, Xiaomi's Vice President Hugo Barra said that the Mi 5 will be launched in India in April. As promised, the Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi has started sending out the press invites for the event, saying, " All you ever imagined, and more".
Initially, the Mi 5 was announced in MWC 2016 event last month in Barcelona, Spain. This announcement came 18 months after the launch of its previous flagship Mi 4. While Samsung launching the Galaxy S7 series of smartphones boasting the same Snapdragon 820 SoC, it will be interesting indeed to see how will it fare alongside the Xiaomi Mi 5.
Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 5 comes packed with 5.15-inch Full HD display with curved glass. It is powered by a latest Snapdragon 820 SoC Quad-Core processor along with Adreno 530 GPU.
Talking about the storage variant, the Mi 5 comes in two variants - 3GB/4GB of RAM along with 32/128 GB of internal storage. On the imaging front, the Mi 5 flaunts a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 4-axis OIS, 4K video recording and 4MP front camera with 80-degree wide angle lens.
Moreover, this device is integrated with Fingerprint scanner, Infrared sensor and shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with MIUI 7 out of the box. The connectivity option includes 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/a dual-band (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C. The above Mi 5 hardware is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
