On Wednesday, Xiaomi announced the Redmi Pro smartphone after a lot of speculations, rumors, and leaks. Confirming the rumors, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup, a deca-core processor, and many other enhanced features.
Xiaomi describes the Redmi Pro as the 'flagship Redmi' device and it is all set to go on sale in the company's homeland China in the next week. As of now, the manufacturer has not revealed any word regarding the Indian launch of the Redmi Pro, but we are certain that it will be launched in the country in the coming months.
If the Redmi Pro is launched in India, we can definitely say that it will compete with the already existing and the upcoming high-end launches as it will be priced competitively. Today, we have come up with a slew of reasons that you need to know to justify that it is worth waiting for the Redmi Pro in the country.
Premium Design and Looks
Though the overall design of the smartphone reminds us of the Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5, but the metallic frame on the Redmi Pro and the chamfered edges make it a premium smartphone. Also, the front of the device features 2.5D curved glass making it impressive.
The Redmi Pro is bestowed with a 5.5-inch OLED display that carries FHD 1080p screen resolution. The OLED panel provides greater contrast ans well as vivid colors in comparison to the usual LCD displays.
The latest Xiaomi flagship is energized by a deca-core 64-bit MediaTek Helio X25 processor that is teamed up with Mali-T880 graphics. There is a base variant of the Redmi Pro that will also make use of a deca-core processor, but it will be a Helio X20 processor from MediaTek. Both the variants will arrive in two storage capacities ranging from 32 GB to 128 GB.
Dual-Camera Setup at its Back
Xiaomi Redmi Pro features the dual-camera setup at its back. There is a 13 MP camera with Sony IMX 258 sensor to capture still photos and a 5 MP module with Samsung sensor to capture in-depth information. The 13 MP sensor has a dedicated depth of field image sensor and Dynamic depth of field support that is claimed to help in capturing the DSLR-like bokeh effect.
Hybrid SD Card Slot
While most high-end smartphones from different makers lack the support for expandable storage, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro comes with the hybrid SD card slot that will let you use the second SIM card slot as a micro SD card slot as well whenever there is a necessity.
Ceramic Fingerprint Scanner
The Redmi Pro also features a fingerprint scanner that has become a mainstream feature in smartphones lately. This fingerprint scanner is a ceramic one and it is embedded into the home button positioned at the front of the smartphone. The placement of the scanner does not affect the elegant and clean design of the Redmi Pro.
The Redmi Pro is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow that is topped with Xiaomi's latest MIUI 8. This software comes packed with a slew of latest and upgraded features including quick sharing from Gallery, ability to click long screenshots, dual app feature to use two social media accounts on the same device, T9 Hindi input, MIUI Caller HD, enhanced Calculator app and more.
