Although the phone comes with a 2500mAh battery on paper, you will still be able to experience pretty good backup time on the E7.

Apart from that, the device features Gionee's custom audio and video player. However, there's limited support for codecs in the media player as it does not support FLAC files. But it still supports DTS audio enhancements that will make a great impact on the audio. Audio quality is good via headphones, although more was needed to be done for the device's loudspeaker offering. Users will notice a lot of distortion at high volumes.

The E7 also supports quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support. You also get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and NFC. There's no GLONASS support anywhere, so it's probably not present in the device. There is a USB Host support for connecting an external drive to access files.

Final Verdict

The Gionee Elife E7 is a great piece of hardware, but the only issue the device will have is its laggy UI that's been slapped on the Android OS. So if you're in the market looking for a premium Android phone and don't want to burn a hole in your pocket, Elife E7 is could be one of the most deserving candidates out there. While the 16GB version of the phone is priced at Rs 26,999, the 32GB version is available at Rs 29,999.

But then, not all will be looking to buy the device since they are not really sure about its UI. And if the UI can be kept aside for a while (which is difficult to do), the device offers decent camera, and a powerful processor.

We are guessing that once the company decides to push out some kind of an update for the UI, the device can be one of the major offerings this year.
