Camera

The flagship HTC One comes with an UltraPixel camera. As expected, it's a high-end device that costs way above Desire 600. So, HTC has put an 8-mega pixel camera sensor with Auto Focus alongside LED Flash light. Definitely, you won't get as original and accurate picture taken with HTC Desire 600. We want to give an unbiased view about HTC Desire 600 rear facing camera. In most of the situations, the camera performed brilliantly. Yes, we found some uneasiness when tested in low light conditions. When tested the camera to take close-ups, the camera performed exceptionally well. You will never face a problem while taking pictures in indoor and outdoor locations, but there is an issue with digital zoom. The 8MP camera is above average by all means. Same can be said for 1.3MP front facing camera.

The Camera UI makes photography, an interesting affair. The UI is similar to HTC One, so nothing surprised us. The camera supports tons of options: HDR, Sweep panorama, ISO, Self-times, Anti Shake, and White Balance. Honestly, we love the embedded editing features. Videos on Desire 600 can be recorded maximum at 720p HD. The quality is superior with no major glitches.

Multimedia

The Desire 600 is a monster handset, when it comes to music and video playing. HTC has fused customized app for music playing. The app uses Beats Audio for superior audio quality. Our review unit does not have bundled earphones, so we had use headphones of a different brand. The phone plays video in MPEG and AVI formats at 720p HD without any hiccups.

Call quality and battery

The device has high quality earpiece for error free conversation. We have seen devices with pathetic earpiece. Fortunately, the Desire 600 is not one among them. Note: There is only one microphone given at the bottom of the phone.

The makers have fitted a 1,860mAh Li Ion removable battery. In our testing, the phone has managed to give 7-8 hours of talk time with 2G data enabled. Overall, on an average we go roughly 16-17 hours of talk time.

Conclusion

The HTC Desire 600 is all together different breed of handset. It would be silly, if you compare the phone with a device promoted by Indian tech vendor. As said earlier, the Desire 600 Dual SIM caters of sophisticated educated class, especially, young working consumers. The phone specifications could have been better in respect to processing speed. There are many options available in the market apart from HTC Desire 600 like BlackBerry Q5, Huawei Ascend Mate and Samsung Galaxy S3. Online retailer Flipkart is selling the Desire 600 for Rs. 25,430. Stay tuned to GizBot.
