HTC Desire V and One S Prices Slashed in India: Will it help HTC in Gaining the Lost Market Share?
If you are planning to buy one of the latest HTC smartphones and waiting to avail an attractive discount for the same, this is the right time for the purchase. As the Taiwanese tech giant has announced an official price cut on two smartphones of its One series including Desire V and One S with effect from October 11, 2012.
The manufacturer has slashed the price of Desire V from Rs 20,499 to s 16,999 and that of One S from Rs 28,900 to Rs 25,900 respectively.
In June, Desire V was released into the Indian market for Rs 21,999 and One S was released with a price tag of Rs 33,590. However, soon after the debut both the handsets witnessed a price drop and were available at Rs 20,499 and Rs 28,900.
Saholic, an online retailer has made these price drops of Desire V and One S effective from Thursday.
Why Price Cut?
On Monday, HTC announced that its net profit in the third quarter drifted by 79.1% as it faced stiff competition from rivals including Samsung. Also, in the second quarter, HTC went down by 27% in sales despite of releasing the One smartphone lineup. Hence, analysts assume that with the price cut, HTC might regain a substantial grab in the competitive smartphone market share and sales figures as well.
Will it Help Gain Market Share?
The price drop could be beneficial to the company as both Desire V and One S are good smartphones with high-end specifications as elaborated below.
Desire V, the dual SIM smartphone comes with the likes of 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GHz single-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich topped with HTC Sense 4.0 UI.
Further the handset has 5MP rear camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD and a 1,650 mAh battery.
When it comes to One S, the smartphone has a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution, an over-clocked 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, Beats Audio integration, 8MP rear camera with auto focus and flash 1080p HD video recording and VGA front-facing camera. Moreover, One S has 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and 1,650 mAh battery.
Moreover, reports from MyDrivers citing a trusted sources also suggested that its not long now before the entire HTC line of smartphones will be discounted right from the source. This price cut will come not only for their Android set of HTC One devices, but for their new Windows Phone 8 smartphones as well, which were launched in September 2012.
