HTC One M8: Camera and Video
HTC One (M8), as you may know already, sports an UltraPixel Duo camera at the back, with the primary camera having the same 4MP lens as the original HTC One. HTC also claims that it captures 300% more light compared to other phones.

The second camera lens, which is also a part of the Duo camera setup of the One (M8), helps in detecting subject backgrounds and separate those backgrounds by scanning picture quality and depth. So, contrary to the popular belief this sensor doesn't click images.

If you remember Nokia's Refocus app, there's a similar feature in the One (M8) that allows users to refocus on an object after shooting a picture. With that, you can also create silhouettes, alter depth of the images and more. There's also the option to shoot 3D-like pictures with the Dimension Plus effect, although the results can only be viewed via a One (M8).

The phone's camera app also includes controls for granular settings. These settings include contrast, saturation, sharpness, ISO, and White Balance for users to allow full control over photos. Apart from that, it offers filters for adding effects even before clicking the photo.
There's the Panorama, Burst and HDR mode alongside the Zoe mode that allows you to capture a full-HD video and later convert it into a still. Pictures taken in the daylight seem to be satisfactory, although not with the full zoom. Also, sometimes, day time shots look overexposed. However, the ones taken indoors still look great, even without the use of flash.
