Micromax Bolt A40: New Android Phone Gets Listed On Company Site Featuring 4.5 Inch TFT Display
Around the end of August, IDC ranked Micromax as the top domestic mobile phone manufacturer in India and while taking international brands into account, Samsung was on top. Immediately after the report was out, the manufacturer launched Canvas Ego A113 at Rs. 12,999 and before that GizBot also reported the Micromax Canvas Fun A63 being listed on company's website. Now, the company website has listed another device called Bolt A40. Sadly, the site doesn't mention anything about the price of the handset.

Have a look at the specs of the latest Micromax handset:
Micromax Bolt A40 comes packed with a 4.5 inch TFT display offering a screen resolution of 480x854pixels. It is powered by a Spreadtrum SC6820 processor clocked at 1 Ghz along with 512MB RAM. The device sadly runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 OS, which is an older version of Android compared to the 4.0 or even 4.1 and later versions. It also features G sensor.
To talk about camera, it sports a 2 MP rear camera and 0.3 MP front facing camera. The rear camera is capable of shooting at 640x480pixels quality.
Moving on to connectivity, Bolt A40 supports Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, Edge and GPS. Oviously it is a dual SIM handset. One can also find 512 MB internal storage capacity (75 MB For apps installation) which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card.
The handset is powered by a 1500 mAh which the company claims to offer 175 Hours of standby time and 4.5 Hours of talk time.
Competition Check
Looking at the specs of the handset, the device falls in the sub-mid range price category. But we expect the device to retail at a price of around Rs. 5,000 or less. Since there are quite a lot of devices in the market priced at the same range, Bolt A40 will have to face stiff competition from devices like Karbonn A6, Samsung Galaxy Star, Nokia Asha 501, Spice Smart Flo Pace Mi-422 and Karbonn Smart A2+ among others.
