Most think of this as a new marketing initiative, but Micromax's Yu Yureka is certainly looking to steal the market share from the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola, to make its mark in the Indian market.

This Cyanogen-based smartphone, priced at Rs. 8,999, is a direct answer to Xiaomi's Redmi Note, which has gained quite a lot of fame within a short span of time.What's the real eye catching difference between the two though, and should we be bothered by the upgrades which will be rolled out soon? Though the Yu Yureka looks expressive, it still holds its own glamour against the most soughted handsets in the same category. The same point can be applied for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.

Both devices offer a premium feel. Given the price mark, bothof them standout against the toughest competition. Based on our judgment and experience, the Redmi Note felt heavier and was a little overweight. In comparison, the Yu Yureka felt more comfortable in the hand. Both the handsets are primarily made out of plastic materials.

The Yu Yureka measures 154.8x78x8.8mm and weighs less than 199 grams, while the Redmi Note 4G measures 154 x 78.7 x 9.5 mm and weighs in at 199grams.

Both Yu Yureka and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has a 5.5-inch IPS displays with 720x1280p resolution, putting both of them on the same level. However, the 5.5-inch 720p HD display on the Redmi Note 4G seemed to be bright and more crisp for the reading tests.

Micromax Yu Yureka Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G: Software

The Yu Yureka runs on Cyanogen OS 11 build, which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based build is also promised by next year. It is a custom version of the Android mobile OSas it offers more features and more control over the device for the core users.

The Redmi Note 4G uses Xiaomi's native MIUI, based on Android 4.4, it is a feature-rich custom skin that gives users access to end number of themes, wallpapers, ringtones and other added features.

The Yu Yureka is clocked by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (MSM8939), coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. With these powerful hardware specs, it would not be wrong to say that the Yu Yureka will be able to withstand the competition for the next 2 years.

The Yureka features a healthy 16GB of on-board storage expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB. Further more, the handset also features Cat. 4 4G LTE connectivity with up to 150Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds. Plus the device is supported by a dual-SIM feature.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G sports a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, an 8GB internal storage and support microSD cards with up to 32GB storage. The handset does support LTE connectivity. The Chinese company has a tie up with Airtel to enhance its sale in India.

The Yu Yureka offers a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash. There's a 5MP front-facing camera, too. Notably with the Yu Yureka, you can even record a slow-motion video in 720p HD format.

Xiaomi Redmi Note has a 13MP rear camera, which was pretty decent enough for taking live shots. Also, it adds a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies and video chats. Both cameras have 1080p video capability.

The Yu Yureka houses a 2500mAh Li-Po battery claiming talk time up to 8 hours and video playback time of up to six hours. The 3,100mAh battery on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G will last for 15 to 17 hours. Both phones have been built with removable batteries.

Moving on to hardware and software, it becomes apparent that Xiaomi Redmi Note is the better option of the two and the best phablet under Rs 10,000 which can be purchased right away!

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is no doubt a killer phablet. It has a better camera, a better battery and gives you an amazing software experience.

All that said the Yu's Yureka shouldn't be overlooked, especially if you always craved to have this Cyanogen-based smartphone. The handset definitely outranks the Xiomi Redni Note 4G on the basis of good looks, better hardware internals and superb software management. Notably, the Yu Yureka is even cheaper over the Redmi Note 4G. Hence the Yu Yureka will definitely make an impact in the Indian market and alert its rival competitors to gear up for 2015.
