Microsoft sends out invites for May 14 event in India, Lumia 540 Dual SIM incoming?


Microsoft has started to send out press invites to its media conference scheduled to take place in New Delhi on May 14. The event will begin at 6:45pm pm IST and the company is expected to launch the Lumia 540 Dual SIM for the Indian market.

The design on the invitation appears to show what looks like the Lumia 540 Dual SIM. The invite says Come. Meet us to welcome the newest member of the Microsoft Lumia family.

Hardware-wise, the handset sports a 5-inch HD screen with a pixel resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood of the Lumia 540 is a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB of RAM.

The company has put a mere 8GB of native , it's also offering 15GB of OneDrive cloud storage, plus 15GB more once you set up auto-upload to OneDrive. What's more, the phone will support a MicroSD card for up to 128GB of extra space.

The main camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with auto focus and an LED flash, while the front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens for taking sefies.

The Lumia 540 currently runs Windows Phone 8.1 with the Lumia Denim update, but it will upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as Microsoft releases the update later this year.

The Lumia 540 Dual SIM will supposedly be priced at around Rs. 6,499 which would easily undercut the current batch of entry-level smartphones. We should know more about price, availability and specifications on May 14 i.e. tomorrow.
