Google launched their much-anticipated smartphones- Pixel XL and Pixel at an event in San Fransisco. Google choose to keep the smartphones almost together in terms of specifications, and they differ only in terms of screen size and resolution.
On the other hand, the Apple iPhones were launched last month and will be coming to India on October 7. Several online portals have already started taking preorders for both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Unlike the Google's Pixel smartphones, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus differ largely in terms of specifications and screen size as well. Without a doubt, the iPhone 7 Plus is a great device, but the newly announced Pixel XL is way ahead when compared to it. Take a look at the five reasons to know why you should buy a Pixel XL instead of Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
Quad HD Display on the Pixel XL!
As said earlier, the Pixel and Pixel XL differs only in terms of display size and resolution. The Pixel XL comes with a QHD display and Google has added support for Daydream VR as well.
On the flip side, the iPhone 7 Plus only has a 1080p display. At the launch event, Apple quoted that they increased the brightness levels and LCD performance of the display, but still 1080p is far behind the QHD display in terms of sharpness.
One of the biggest weakness of Nexus smartphones was their camera performance. However, Google turned the things around with the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Now, Google claims that the Pixel camera is the highly rated camera according to DxOMark, leaving behind the iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy S7.
On paper, the Pixel XL comes with a 12.3MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. The bigger 1.55-micron pixels helps in better low-light shots.
The iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 12MP dual rear camera. The first camera is a 23mm wide-angle and the second camera is a 56mm telephoto camera and Apple offers up to 5x digital zoom.
Presence of 3.5mm Headphone Jack
This is a big deal for many. Google decided to not ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack on their Pixel phones, but the Apple iPhone 7 Plus doesn't come with a headphone jack port, which is a deal breaker for many.
All new Google Assistant
The new Pixel phones come with a new assistant called the 'Google Assistant', which the company touts as updated version of Google Now. Apple also improved their assistant 'Siri' in the iOS 10 but has a long way to go.
Unlimited Cloud Storage
One of the major announcement at the event. Users of Pixel and Pixel XL can upload unlimited photos and videos to the cloud and it will be free for lifetime. Apple still charges for iCloud storage beyond 5GB.
