Alcatel U5 HD launched with 8MP camera, Android Nougat

The Alcatel U5 HD is the slightly upgraded version of the Alcatel U5, which was launched earlier this year at the MWC 2017. Unfortunately, the Chinese company has not revealed the pricing and availability of the U5 HD yet. Hopefully, we will get to know about that at the upcoming IFA 2017. Well, the smartphone is being offered in two color options; Volcano Black and Pure White.

Design wise, the Alcatel U5 HD looks quite mundane, to be honest. That being said, you should not complain since it is going to be a budget smartphone. The rear panel of the device shows a textured finish.

As far as the specifications are concerned, it comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display that delivers an HD resolution of 720×1280 pixels. However, the report we got yesterday hinted towards a smaller 5-inch display on the smartphone.

Under its hood, the Alcatel U5 HD is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor running at 1.1GHz. The chipset is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Thanks to the microSD card slot present in the phone, the storage capacity can be further expanded up to 128GB.

The photography aspect of the smartphone is taken care of by an 8MP rear-facing main camera, which is equipped with autofocus and LED flash. Up front, there is a 5MP camera with LED flash for taking selfies.

On the software front, the Alcatel U5 HD runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS right out of the box. While for keeping the lights on there is a 2,200mAh battery. The battery unit is claimed to offer 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.

Connectivity features on board include dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), micro-USB port, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS/A-GPS.

Here you can read about the other two Alcatel smartphones that were leaked.
