Apple Releases iOS 26 Update: Check List of Eligible iPhones, Key Features, How to Download iOS 26
Apple's major event for 2025 has wrapped up, showcasing the iPhone 17 series and the sleek iPhone Air. These models will feature the latest iOS 26 software. Older iPhones will receive this update on September 15. The Release Candidate (RC) version of iOS 26 is now available to beta testers, marking the final pre-release phase before the official launch.
The iOS 26 update rolled out to supported iPhones last night at 10:30pm. This update promises to enhance user experience with a range of new features and improvements.

How to Download and Install the iOS 26 Update
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap General, then select Software Update.
- Your iPhone will automatically check for available updates.
- If iOS 26 is available, tap Download & Install.
- Wait for the update to finish downloading and installing. Your device will reboot once the installation is complete.

Note: Apple dropped support for iPhones with the A12 Bionic chip, including the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max. iOS 26 requires at least an Apple A13 Bionic processor.
iOS 26 Features
The Liquid Glass Interface introduces a translucent design with fluid elements, offering a more immersive look. Siri becomes smarter with improved language understanding and context awareness. New call features include live voicemail and call screening. The Photos App has been redesigned for better customization and search functionality.
The new Passwords App centralized password management including passkeys and Wi-Fi logins. Messages upgrades bring emoji tapbacks, text effects, and expanded satellite messaging capabilities. Users can now mirror their iPhone on a Mac with full control and audio support.

Tap to Cash in Wallet allows instant money transfers between two iPhones by holding them close together. The Mail App now automatically sorts emails into categories like Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions. Journal updates include an insights dashboard and writing goals.
Game Mode optimises gaming by reducing latency and enhancing accessory performance. Accessibility features introduce tools like eye tracking and vocal shortcuts to reduce discomfort during use. The Apple AirPods Pro 3 also sees improvements in fit, sound quality, and intelligence.
